ANother 8th gen s-question

    ANother 8th gen s-question

    Ok i cant really decide which to get first my suspension or my rims
    im buying konigs tune 16" with an offset of 40 is that good by the way? would i need camber kits?

    But i cant decide if i should get the HandR springs and strusts first:
    so i have come to a conclusion that
    i can get the rims an tires now and have them installed and get the springs,
    but my OEM struts are worn out will that ruin the new springs?

    By the way i only have enough money for the wheels and shocks

    1) The type of wheel you get is not going to make you need a camber kit, unless you want to get more camber to prevent rubbing
    2) Bad struts on new springs will not ruin the springs. There's no way to really damage springs unless you put alot of weight in your car.

    If you only have money for wheels and shocks, get some Tokico's then when you have the money for springs get them later. This is assuming you are going to be changing the springs and struts yourself. If you are getting it done somewhere, just save up and get the struts and springs at one time because labor will kill your wallet

    oh sorry i meant if i change the springs to handr springs will i need a camber kit?
    and i do have the money for the new struts but i only want a lowered look when i assemble the rims and the shocks. im not too worried about the strus

    I don't think you'll need camber bolts with H&R's but it seems every car is different (or some people are more anal than others). But save up and get struts and springs at the same time. I was trying to say you could replace performance struts on stock springs, but performance springs on stock struts (especially worn out struts) is not good.

    ok tanks i guesse ill be getting the wheels first, and by the begining of summer i should have my shock and struts, and BTW has anyone tried the tokico's suspension kits?

    You don't need the camber kit since the h&r don't lower that much. I don't even think the H&R will make your car rub at all even with the +40offset. I have the 40offset, but i rub because i have the s-techs. All the springs + struts prices went up these past few months... which is kinda ridiculous.

    yeh they o i checked in there catalog and it says the 8th gen has an HP kit

    and yes i know it oesnt lower that much maybe from 1 to 1.5 inch but ill be adding a custom lip kit really dont want it rubbing on the ground everytime i hit a speed bump or getout of my garage

    Well i've never used Tokico's mounts or anything but i've had their HP Blues on my old car and it was nice. the 1 inch it lowered automatically was perfect for me with stock springs. However, I have heard many people who have used Tokico's and non-OEM lowering springs which caused the struts to fail prematurely. I have no idea why that would be.. If you want lowering springs, it seems like (according to others on this forum) you would be better off with KYB's instead of Tokico's.

    you'll be fine without the camber kit... but it's only about $60-80, so it also wouldn't be a bad idea if you just want to do everything at once...

    Also, KYB might be better with the lowering springs- as Tokico (a lot stiffer) might let you feel the road a bit too much... uncomfortable, and harsh

    why don't you get 17's at least just save up and do it all at one time? 16's will be too small and will have to much tire showing if want a decent look to the car. 16's just doesn't look right, but will fit the style you typically see with people that don't lower their car.

    yeh ive seen 17s on corollas and it doesnt look too good IMO
    well i think im with the eibach springs or hand r springs i saw pics and i think drop looks better

    its H&R not handr or hand r. it has nothing to do with a hand.

    Good things happen to people that wait. Id buy everything before installing it. So what if it takes a little more time to save up for everything. Patience is key :)

    i say install it as soon as you get it. there are some things for my old corolla that i bought but i waited and well i got into an accident. enjoy life now. you never know what could happen tomorrow

    H&R are pretty comfortable... while the s-tech + tokico are pretty stiff... i feel like my back hurts once in a while because i drive long distance sometimes. 17's aren't bad, they weigh more sometimes , but this is not always true. I think s-techs + 17's look good, but i dunno about H&R +17's. The gap may not be appealing to some people. Then again.. it's your car do what you prefer

    yeh im not going for "go big or go home look" i just want a sleek design that will turn heads in the streets, almost like a black silver casual look

    Depends on what you mean by "turning heads". It can be clean and turn heads or it can be ricey and turn heads as well. Just not in admiration. :D

    no i want the clean look. almost VIP style but not going all out with the tvs and touch screen all over my car. just the casual black and silver combo

    it just told me it had an offset of 40 it just told me the wheel size wheel be 7 x 16
    and whas the hubbore? 73.1
