    $300 shipped is still uber cheap.

    Think about it this way, my shop has a wholesale dealers account with Vis Racing and it cost us $330 to buy the hood at wholesale if we drive down to socal to pick it up. That hood is way below cost.

    Yeah, but its not a VIS hood, who knows the quality of the materials/resin/etc. used in its fabrication... like the old saying goes... you get what you pay for...

    dude vis is crap.. there are chinese words on the "Authentic VIS" tag , you do get what you pay for but when comparing KCG vs. VIS vs. SEIBON... it's crap vs. crap vs. crap

    I've heard it makes steering at high speeds a little too touchy since we have FWD. And does it make any difference in handling, acceleration, or mpg? haha I would think you need more weight over the wheels for traction.

    So you'd spend $300 on the hood, and then pay a shop to paint it just to save roughly 20lbs?

    That's what I did. I lost 25 lbs. The equivalent of the carbon fiber hood. And I still don't notice a difference. I guess I gotta lose even more weight now. LOL :D

    With that mentality, a hummer would handle better than a lotus because it weighs more. The ideal car has a 50/50 weight distribution and the majority of the weight placed below the center of gravity. Weight = inertia so yes it makes a difference in handling (less weight shifting from side to side), acceleration (increase power/weight ratio) and braking (less momentum to stop). There is no one magic mod that makes a car weight 500lb less with just the twist of a bolt. Weight must be taken off one piece at a time and 20+lbs is a dramatic difference for one mod.

    I'm not saying weight reduction means a reduction in traction. I'm saying that weight reduction over the power wheels is bad. However, 50/50 weight distribution for a RWD is the ideal setup. However, I'm not so sure about FWD.

    Whether or not 50/50 weight distribution for FWD is the ideal setup would be debatable depending on how the suspension and chassis are setup and each respective car's application. Obviously a drag racer would see optimum weight distribution from a different perspective than a road racer.

    But realistically, it would be almost impossible to achieve on any FWD car.

    a equal weight distribution is beneficial regardless of drivetrain layout. This is why many racers go to the trouble of corner balancing their cars. You should not be relying on weight for traction, traction should be tuned via the suspension and drivetrain.
