AE82, supposed to be next gen starlet?

When I went to court, after the cop didnt show, I went on my merry way and found that a starlet was parked nearby. Like the toyota noob that I am, I had to double check if the thing was rWD by kneeling down and peeking underneath.... And it was. :ninjastea:rolleyes::cool:

Now I wonder if toyota didnt go the cheap route of using FWD, my car would probably be the next gen starlet. Boy would that be nice... It looked like the starlet is around 1/8 lighter than my car too eh?

    P.S.
My fascination with the cars around that time (80's I believe) led me to this car:

The AE82 is the replacement to the Starlet in the U.S. market and possibly others. The starlet name lived on in other countries though. But yeah if I can lay my hands on a cheap starlet, I'd sooo buy one.

I should have measured the rear axle. Maybe it might fit in my car minus the fuel tank and spare tire location... o_O

KP61's were the last generation Starlet to be sold in North America but finding one in good condition is hard these days.

The starlet is a completely different car than an ae82. The tercel is closer to a starlet than an ae82 is....

I dont see a tercel hatch often. Actually, I havent seen a tercel hatch I think thus I thought that the AE82 was the starlet-look-a-like.
