I think if i was to buy an arcade game, i would buy racing. there are two that i would love to have. 1. Initial D Arcade (or spend the same amount of money and get the PS3 version and buy the full setup or 2. Ferrari F355 Challenge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari_F355_Challenge) <--that game is incredibly fun, especially when playing with another friend.

Dude - that is totally awesome. MKI, MKII, MKIII were the reasons why I made it through my undergraduate and graduate school without going nuts. Buddy of mine is a huge StreetFighter fan (has two arcade boxes at home - turbo and alpha) - also has a Soul Caliber and Primal Rage ones as well. I'd be all over those - but then I'd have to lose the pool table to make room. Don't know if I want to do that.

A sweet - totally awesome man! MKI and MKII - probably two best "fighting arcades of their time" - just all the hype surrounding them, pumped up their popularity.

MK1, the one that first got parents, congress people, and activists were all bent out of shape about for all that "digitized" gore. The home consoles got censored variants that in ways are much funnier than the arcade.

That same sad story - violent games will turn innocent children into violent people - now come on, proven over and over that violent video games didn't do squat, in terms of "making" someone turn violent. If anything, current research now shows that action video play increases visual perception - the faster the pace, more gore, strong visuals, etc. the better!

    http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2009/03/090329-video-game-vision.html

Looking where games are at now - MK1 was actually pretty tame by today's standards.

I had an idea to make an aftermarket DDR kit (powered by stepmania or openITG) since the real thing is so expensive. Any demand for this sorta thing? I have some ideas that could make it perform better than any konami machine to date (hardware wise). Kit would be anywhere from $500-$3000 depending what options the user may want (or stuff preinstalled)

    Holy thread resurrection lol
Although as I was reading this, I saw March 1st in the posts, I thought this all happened today until I saw it said 09.
One question though, you said you got MKI, but why in the pictures does it say MKII on the actual machine?
