Got my TRD muffler, now how can I clean it?

I got a TRD muffler today. It was used, and I want to clean it up. I used some degreaser on the tip, because you really can't see anything else. I think I just want to clean the tip, is there any reason to clean the whole thing?

    What can I use?

I paid $120. I figured it would cost me more to put on the muffler that I already had, and I can take this off if I ever sell the car.

Metal poilsher.....My TRD looked like when I bought it.

I scrubbed the tip, then took sandpaper and scuffed it up and then spray painted in with high temp flat black paint.....Looked stocked.

Yeah, I just read something about the metal polish, but will it take out the rust spots? Is it worth polishing the whole thing, or just the tip? (let's play a game called Just the tip... LOL)

use mother's metal polish or neverdull.. both can be found at walmart's automotive section. You can use a mother's power ball to make things go a lot faster.

Well I used Mother's metal polish, and the muffler got shiny really easily, but the tip didn't. It got clean, but it took a while. The polish says its not good for chrome, could the tip be chrome? Or is it stainless steel

Ok, so I used Mother's mag and aluminum polish. And I got the powerball and it made it a whole lot easier. I couldn't get the edge of the tip completely clean, but I figure its going to get dirty anyways. I installed it this morning and I think it sounds good, but I haven't driven it yet. Here are some pics.

You should've put on a few coats of wax as well after polishing it. Wouldn't hurt but it would keep it clean for a while until the wax wears away.

I wouldn't want to do that. Especially not to a TRD muffler.

That's my side of the garage, where I keep all my stuff. its a mess right now

It is, but how much horsepower can you really gain from a cat back exhaust on a 1ZZ? I don't think it would be much. I had a Magnaflow that I wanted to put on, but I liked the idea of being able to take this off if I sell the car, and to get the Magnaflow put on it would've been the same or more expensive. Is $125 a good price? I had seen them new on some sites for like $350.

I painted my TRD black and it looked stock, kept the cops off my tail. If you wanted to do a cat-back have a muffler shop weld on 2.25 or 2.5 inch pipe back and if you want throw a resonator on it. Makes some power and sounds good
