01 Starter Question

The starter on my 01 died. I looked for a replacement online and found 2 different kinds. They're 1.4kw and 1.2kw. Which one should I get?

The 1.2KW is the standard one in warmer climates. The 1.4KW was the optional one (cold weather package) or standard one in cooler climates. Both will fit on the car - the 1.4KW has heavier duty brush springs for sure - little more powerful cranking ability.

Look at the original one's part number. If I remember correctly - if it is a Denso part that ends with a xxxxxx-631 it is the 1.2KW one, if the it ends with a xxxxxx-666, it is the 1.4KW one.

YEa you have the cold starter for cold weather and the hot starter for places that have alot of heat .... of course the cold one is more expensive

Just wondering how "cold" is consider as "cold"? Like always under 10'C?

I had lived in Jersey when I purchased my Corolla and it came with the cold start ...... Now I live in florida with it ....
