Here in california it's illegal. so on my old car, i had it all the way around, but damn cops pulled me over andihad to pay $250 fine. I dont want to risk that again, soi decided to go with just the back, but im considering getting the front one step obove percentage wise, toabout 20%. Those cops havebeen crakin down here on those illegal tints. Dont they have better things to do?

The molding was one of the first things I did to our Rolla too. I also know where you are coming from with the tint... used to live in Oceanside, CA... the cops out there can be real sticklers for pretty much everything. Looks Good!!

I like the side moldings, but that's because I have an LE. If I had the black ones like on the CE, I would definately remove them.

Pretty sure it's the same way in washington state also.

There's a few reasons why they don't want the front windshield tinted. First off, tinting windows will kill some visibility at night. Also, if you hit someone and they're in front, they want the person to be able to see clearly identify your face in case you do a hit and run. If your state has intersections that takes pictures of the car and driver, they also want to be able to identify you. Tinited windows would hinder that.

Also, states have limits on how much you can tint your windows so cops can see who's driving the car in case they get into a police chase or some shit.

In some states, they make you have a front license plate just in case you do a hit and run and the victim or bystanders still have a chance to get your plate number.

It takes less than 20 seconds to remove the license plate.

front plates are required in WA are they not? My ex got in a fender bender and it ripped the front license plate off, later that week, she got pulled over for not having it on...

In any state that issues 2 plates it is required to use both plates. However, usually the ticket is only a fix it ticket with a small fine. I don't have plates on either of my vehicles and have been that way since I got them. No problems yet, but not that I've mentioned it I'll probably get a ticket on the way home. lol.

    I love that tinting bullshit.

Minivans, SUV's, Trucks...go ahead, do whatever you want! Limo black, no problem!

    Cars...not so fast, bithes! ;)

Which, to me, is a giant load of crapola.

Thread derailment ahead, hold tight :

I wrote to my governer and some kind soul there wrote me an email (after I refused to return their call...I wanted something in writing ;)) :

I then wrote back to clarify :

    and his response :

The laws are a giant mess. So many convoluted cross-references...

My main beef (and the reason I wrote to my governer in the first place) is the absurd double-standard. There is no reason that justifies a minivan, SUV or truck that wouldn't also work on a car. EXCEPT!!! That federal law made them exempt.

WOW. I'm not sure if here incalifornia we have that law, but it does seem that way alot of times. I always see limo hummer's, f150's,mini vans, explorers, ectt...tinited all the way around. And why did they pick on me? It frusterates me when I know about 100 people right now that have tinted windows all the way around and yet they have yet to be caught. I know however, if u have some kinda skin diesese you can have the windows tiinted on the passenger side, provided you have a doctors note..THE POINT IS, ANYTHING THAT MAKES YOUR CAR LOOK COOLER, SEEMS ILLEGAL.

If you read any written law, they all cross reference each other. It's just the way it's done. They're meant to be confusing, that's why it's best to take notes while reading and referencing it.

One thing to remember, state law can't contradict federal law. I would suggest looking at the federal law to regarding window tinting.

Re: HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE SIDE MOLDINGS?

Yes, they are held on with double sided tape... you can remove them the same way you removed your trunk emblems.
