My Tank-yota rolla in a ditch

I went on a subie run in SC last week, crashed my car..... single tear, but it will ride again, toyota's rule! I got some respect from the Wrexers, too. Drove my car off the road into a 20 foot deep ditch, about 10 feet down I landed on the branch of a tree, very jurrasic park. Anyways, 2 hours later the tow truck found me and 6 other wrexes (not conspicuous at all) and towed me out, my front and rear bumper detatching. After i was out of the ditch, my front and rear bumper were chipped, but the tabs were still there and they snapped back into place, checked the engine, fired it up and drove it home. Hope you realized that the Corolla "S" is not sports car and try to drive the car within it's limits.....shouldn't be too hard as it's limits is extremely low. You got real lucky judging from where you flew off the road from the pic.

Good thing the damage was minimal, could have been realy ugly.

Problem with the current gen. is the lack of handling. The suspention needs a upgrade bad. The small wheel base doesn't help eather. Also lovely wheel hop. Which the urthane engine mount trick would do good.

All of that and you got a nice corolla with descent handling.

Ya the wheel hop on these corollas is ubsurd. Whenever you try to show off and roach the tires all you get is BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG.

i don"t mean to be an ass, but you may have a lack of skills when it comes to driving. i personnaly never have wheel hop :roll: ( ok , only when i first got the car, but i was learning stick drive ) , you should try a different approach when de-clutching, just my 0.02 cents

no, he's right, the wheel hop on the corolla is terrible.
as are the stock tires

but that's not to say that it's easy to just be softer on the car when you're trying to take off; but you could take off a hell of a lot faster with a rolla without that wheel hop

Not that I've tried it, but I wouldn't be surprised if a stock civic could beat a stock rolla just because you do have to be so light on takeoff. (car-stats.com shows that it is, but I'm not sure if I trust those numbers, much less if I trust them to be on stock cars).

All that aside, I'm not the greatest stick driver, but I can hold my own. But I still think the rolla's wheel hop is really bad. Hell, my dad's old half-broken Subaru Loyale can take off harder without the hop...

my dad own an acura 1.7 EL and i doesn"t take off that faster , they are both even imo ( the clutch is so smooth , it"s hard to take off quickly without making the clutch slip. )

how does putting your car into a ditch turn into a discussion about wheel hop?... anyways if your worried about the handling of the corolla then do what every does when they dont like the suspension of their car... upgrade time
