pinging sound after trd CAI install is this normal

after me and my friend installed my trd intake i noticed about a week later that i could hear a slight pinging noise when i was at idol. almost sounds like knock. so i switched my fuel back to 87 and it is still making the noise. well hear i am 2 months later and i still hear that wreched noise!! anyone else expirencing this?

did you switch to those new plugs at the same time? Why are u running colder plugs? Is it because of the nitrous?

yea you need a colder spark or else the plugs will be running so hot that they will just melt to nothing. lol. and i changed the plugs at around the same time i think it was a little while after installing the intake a month or so after im guessing?

The ticking sound comes from your VSV (vaccum switching valve). Your CAI (not CIA) makes it louder. I wrapped my VSV in insulating foam tape and can barely hear it now...
What number are your Denso (not Denzo) plugs? IK20's?

It says it in the directions of the TRD CAI Too that it will happen.

I didnt know you meant a ticking noise... I thought you were saying that your engine was "knocking"... yeah, its normal, my car does it too.

yeah the ticking is normal, but I heard that there is a kit out there to keep it quiet. Check it on www.matrixowners.com
