    turbo dilemma

ok, i reciently swapped turbos in my car because i thought the old turbo was blown. Everytime the car would come on boost, the car spit out a ton of burnt oil through the tailpipe...but only on boost. After replacing the old turbo with a brand new one, it still did the same thing, only this time, more because the turbo spooled up much quicker. Does anyone have any idea why it only smokes on boost? Right now, i leave the watsegate fully open and no smoke. I've got new pics too if anyone wants to see them...much better quality.

You are getting a crapload of blow-by then cause of the burnt oil. That's what I would guess.

Check your engine compression right away

BTW, I would love to see pics.

compression is fine, been checked. The engine idles perfectly, and theres no smoke without boost. doesnt make sense that the piston rings wouldnt be able to handle 4 psi when TRD's blower puts out almost double that.

compression is ok, how about leakdown?

was the engine warm when tested?

maby bad valve guide seals? <---- stabbing way into the dark with that one.

Yeah, I'd say that something with the head might be bad then cause the compression is fine.

It's very strange how it's only under boost though, my turbo was blown in my other car and did the same thing so I don't know what to say since you have a brand new turbo :?

    turbo/supercharger with nitrous ecu mods?

hi i just joined this fourm and i need some help from some one. right now my car is currently running a 55 shot of nitrous from the venom 500 recluse system. this system includes an ecu that "piggy backs" the stock corolla ecu. now my question is what would i need to do with the ecu to hook up either a turbo or supercharger? anyone know? :?

ok, fixed it :) Some of the vaccume lines were making boost into the crankcase and forcing oil somewhere it shouldnt go. got my injectors too... should hook those up tommrow, it should be fun :)

Right on... You were pushing oil in your intake manifold through your crankcase ventilation system (PCV). You might wanna check for oil accumulation, perhaps by removing TB, jacking up passenger side, and blotting it out with clean rag.

Hey Crovax... I hope things work out for ya... next time im in Palm Beach on vacation, im gonna hit you up to check out that turbo!

hay man... start a new thread instead of stealing others :?

You might not get responses because maybe the ppl on at the time dont know the answer... putting it in someone elses thread wont help anything.

its all good man, welcome to the board :)

Well, I must say, the car is faster than ever now. Once the oil prolbem was fixed, we plugged in the new celica GT-S injectors and turned the boost back up to 6.5 psi and WOW what a difference the injectors make. The engine used to lean out at high rpm, but thats simply not a prolbem now with the bigger injectors. They were a plug and play install, which took all of 5 min to put in. Its the only upgrade that for $50 and 5 min can give you in upwards of what felt like 20 wheel hp. With the quicker spooling turbo, i make 6.5 psi at 2500 rpm which is good for a 0-60 time of 6.7 seconds (stopwatch...92 degrees outside). Remember, this is an automatic. I think i can run a low 15 maybe a high 14 now depending on the weather. I'd absoultly love to drive a manual car..so if anyone around palm beach has one, we should meet up, and you can drive my car around. Anyway... i guess thats it :) if anyone wants to do a turbo setup, i know exactly how to do it and make it work now...so i'd love to see someone else with a manual do it...someone try it :)
