Any have ideas with installing an LCD in the dash?

I have an LCD screen set up in my car, it's connected to a computer in the back to play MP3s for now. I'm getting a GPS soon (maybe a Delorme Earthmate). Eventually, I may add a DVD drive to play movies, and maybe some type of internet access (WIFI maybe? I don't know, I'm still learning). Anyway, as you can see from the pictures my screen (7" LCD touchscreen) is merely standing on it's base on the door to one of the pockets above the shifter (I have an Automatic). Anyone have any ideas on how to make the install more permanent? Anyway, thanks for your help.

    Brian

you could pull out the stock deck and mould some fibreglass around it to look good

then you could cut out the pocket that you have it sitting on now an put a single-DIN deck there....

here is how i mounted my lilliput.

of course, it means that you'l have to get a one DIN radio to replace the stock one, and it helps to a short shifter so that the shifter doesn't get in the way of the radio in its new position.

Damn man, that looks clean. Guess after I fix the rattle problem, I'll start working on more electronics... just when I think I had all I wanted.

    RK,

You've got a nice installation there. I've thought about mounting my lilliput in the same place that you have yours. Honestly, I didn't think I would be able to fit it in the spot. When I held the screen up to that spot it looked to be too tall to fit in the opening. Did you have to cut into the radio trim piece (the one that contains the two vents)? For the moment, I prefer to use the factory radio, but I may be interested in taking this route some time in the future.

    Thanks,

    Brian

there are some old posts (if you search, you might be able to find um) that have really nice custom jobs where the LCD is mounted in the stock deck position and the deck is mounted like it is in the pics shown above..i was really serious in doing this with my tC, but i cant think of a place to mount the deck.

yeah i got it done at a place... i started becoming friends with the guy so now he can do alot of work for me on the side... i talked to him about setting up a group buy for this product... if there were enough people interested or if someone wants this real bad i can get my guy to do it... all he would need is that bezel part... and the actuall TV itself

see the thing with the TVs is that he actually needs need because he needs to make a template for the bezel. and depending whether the TV has buttons or not he can make the holes for them also.
