Some New News On TRD Parts

Went and finally picked up my Sportivo springs from my parts guy. He said that their TRD rep had just paid them a visit. He showed me the specs and everything for the new TRD Sequential Shift Light. Looks pretty cool, it basically lights up a series of lights and lets you know when the optimal shift points are. It also shows air fuel ratio. List price is gonna be around $275 and installation is supposed to be simple.

Also he said the tC supercharger is set to run at 7psi and produce about 210hp. They're also in the works w/ vortech to after-cool it and have a smaller pulley used to produce about 300hp when used w/ exhaust.

A supercharger is also being created for the xB and XA. Blitz is desingning it for TRD.

There is also going to be a limited edition xA coming out. It's bright red, basically the same idea as the Hot Lave xB.

Here is a pic of a matrix with the shift light and virtual display. Doesnt show them great but its on it. Why is there no info on either of these items anywhere. These could be fun toys.

    1)I want that shift light!

2)As much as I hate it, the TC is going to have more support than the Rolla/Trix because it's marketed for the "performance" crowd, whereas we're (except the XRS) marketed for the econo, but fun-loving crowd. Face it, we drive sporty econo-cars and sporty econo-wagons

Ah, that would make sense too, both to have it there adn now that I see the wire running back from it.

Seeing that shifter, though, gave me an idea.....one could, theoretically, throw a small LCD into the top of the shifter, with a piece of nice, thick plexiglass rounded to the shifter knob to make it feel right... That would be cool looking; to have like a digital tach. readout on top of the shifter. Not exactly useful, but cool looking. Hmm...maybe a project for me...

Shift Lights are for girls. Its not like we can accelerate so fast that you cant watch the RPM needle rise and decide when to shift... If you really know how to drive you can just feel/sense when to shift, dont even need to look at the RPM needle. If your in the 'grove/mood' (whatever you wana call it) you can sense/feel/hear when the engine has hit its peak, and thats your que to shift. A cheap LED blinking in your face and discracting your attention is not necessairy.

Yes i understand you guys, your thinking "'cool another mod/toy to add to my car, sweet" and i understand that and im the same way sometimes.

But if your serious like "oh ya i gota get a shift light im gona be a bad ass racer and ill pwn supras with my new shift light ya" then im sorry to say, your a moron. Shift light is wortheless.

    ok my 2 cents

as someone who is self taught on any aspect of his, or any, car really; especially when it comes to operating a manual transmission, I am interested in seeing where Toyota would place the "optimum shift point" in relation to where I would normally shift under hard accelleration

that said, anyone who thinks this mod is gonna make them faster, or better racers, or anything along those lines.....well yeah, I agree, you're stupid.

but, it is also another mod to do. Something I'd probably rip apart andput the LEDs somewhere more suited to my purposes.

oh yes a small light that would probably go off at 4k on the tac will give me the awesome power to beat supras. Hey maybe if I change the Led to a different color I can beat an F50 while i'm at it too. Honostly dude you over reactied and it shows. And yes I also believe it's stupid that the corolla has been out for years and has a little market for after market parts. Yet the TC came out very recently and already has plans for a 300hp setup? Bullshit  . I see more corollas on the rode than any other new mid size coupe or whatever. Why not give us a taste of aftermarket glory for once. My 2 (insert cent symbol thingy here)

factory shift lights tell you when to shift for maximum efficency, not speed, and they are all really annoying.

personally i cant tell the diffrence between 6000 and 6200 rpm by "feel"

with the peaky nature of these little motors, i think it might be useful, particullary in a road race sceneraio to have such a light. let me keep my thoughts on the turn and let the light cue me in that im nearing that unplesant fuel cutoff.

it wont make the car faster, but it does have its uses IMO

Its the sequential part that I like. I think it looks sweet... plus would help for auto-x... not so much drag though. Just looks cool and ppl would be like WTF!
