    Too Many Paint Chips

Is it just me, or does anybody else have a problem with paint chipping? I have more paint chips on my 04 LE (desert sand mica) than what I did on my 91 LE. I seem to have them all over on the front bumper and also have them on my hood. I washed and waxed it today and noticed a chip on the door post that is between the front and rear doors on the driver's side. This spot isn't even exposed since the doors close over it and yet it had some surface rust on it. I was able to scrape the rust off with a pin and put touch up paint on it, I'm hoping that it doesn't rust any more. Has anybody else noticed that the paint on the newer models seems to be cheesier than it used to be? :x

i was just seriously thinking the exact same thing today. I just washed my car and i was looking at the front bumper and noticed a few paint/rock chips. I was pretty sad cause there are quite a few with my car only having 11,000 miles. Then again maybe i drive too fast on the freeway...

My car has terrible, TERRIBLE rock chips on the hood/front bumper. I think the paint on our cars suck, as my 94 Tbird didn't have as many rock chips as this in its 10 years in existance.

Driving down Interstate 5 here in California with those big trucks, and I'm doing like 110mph... ya... definitely in it for BIG rock chips. I don't think the paint is any better or worse. I think it's just the road conditions. Rocks/debris on the road that gets kicked up by other cars/trucks and also your own driving habit. Say you're doing 70mph on the freeway and the rock is coming at you at 10mph. That makes that little pebble/rock an 80mph projectile!

how fast were you guys driving??

you can always go to Toyota dealer and the the touch up paint to cover it up.. i mean.. it's not the best.. but atleast the color matchs and you can't see the chipping from 3 feet away..

At least you guys have the option of touch-up paint

I'm going to wet-sand my entire car and "do some things" but I should be putting 4 or 5 more coats of clear on my car this time to help with the chips and then I'll 3M mask the whole front end and the sideskirts too.

I've got a ton of them too. It's annoying. I'm guessing I get them from high-speed driving on the 5 freeway with all those damn trucks kicking stuff around.

I had my 91 for eight years...I don't think I'll have my 04 that long because the re-sale value will probably be horrible, due to the paint. I'll have to rename the color to "touched up tan."

you guys are listing a lots of old cars basically with a flat nose design. i notice chipping on my too. for some reason it think its the design of our front end where it curves more than any other car that i have. i also have a volvo s60. and i drive it the same i would anywhere and i do not see any rock chips or damage. the front end of the volvo is flat compare to the rolla which is more curve and with the wind taking shape of the rolla front end rocks tend to hit the hood and the bumper as to the volvo you might notice it more on the bumper.
