You have to show the company that you will be a valuable source of advertisement for them.

Companies like it when you've had previous magazine exposure.

Most will require you to attend a certain # of car shows and have their sticker(s) on your car.

Bottom line.. you have to put a lot of money into your car to prove to them you are serious.

Usually they are free or close to cause you will bring in more business then they just gave away by you showing their products around. It's all about what you can do for them, not what they can do for you

And as people said, you have to have a ton of money into your ride to even get noticed and full-ride sponsorships are hard to come by. You would have to eat, sleep and drink mods to get free stuff.

Chris do you think I have enough into my car to get a sponsorship by a company? I know i would have to start doing shows and or more racing though.

Has anyone tried asking a local Toyota dealer to sponsor? They''ll probably have a big TRD vinyl and put it on your car and somewhere a decal showing off the dealership name.

Personally I think that you should have gotten sponsorships already, but you would have to go to shows so that their product gets "seen" instead of read about online

You have tons of shows in Ptown though, there is one in like 3 weeks that my car club is going to go to (I'll be there as well), so you should at least show up and go cruising with us since you will have one of the faster cars there and you can go up against the fastest XRS (questionable, has the most mods to be sure although his driving sucks, lol)

That is stupidly hard dude, Toyota never sponsors anyone unless it's a full-out show only car or race car. TRD is a more likely candidate but that would still be really hard though cause the parts they have for our cars don't have a big market :|

Whoa, dude, easy there turbo. In no way did I mean to offend you at all. I was simply stating that it is very hard to get a sponsor, I guess you took that as an insult :?

And I don't see anything wrong with my grammar

ok.. so back on topic with sponsorships..

A lot of companies have stages of sponsorships..... They go similar to as follows:

    1) Attend 10+shows a year with stickers 30% off parts from store
    2) Attend 10+ shows w/ 1 magazine print receive 50% off

bla bla bla... until they think you are a complete benefit to them.... then they'll sponsor you fully..

um, if you didnt understand what he was saying, then i dont know where your grammar came from....

    its grammar, not grammer

and when he said "stupidly", he was making a description refering to how hard it is to get a sponsorship as opposed to calling you stupid.

It's getting annoying that people are getting mad at others when they can't read! All these people lately assuming that other's are insulting or getting mad at one another.

If I want to take my car to shows I have a few things I need to clean up. I have a lot done to my car but not at quite show quality. I would really have to get another car so I wasnt putting so many miles on mine as a daily driver. And by daily driver I put 30,000 on my car last year :(. And once I get my lighter rims I guarantee I can beat that Xrs with 230-240 hp I dont think it will be a contest. What date where you talking about though Chris I will see if I can swing by.

Thank you. And you're right, I could have said "really" instead of "stupidly", but it is really hard to get Toyota to even look at a car with the intent of giving you something to put on it at less than retail :?

And how am I full of s*** if I attend 10+ car shows a year and just took Best Paint at Import Life in Seattle with over 120 cars there??? I show for a living other than college, so I believe I know what I'm doing by now, specially with 4 full-ride sponsors...

All I will ever say is that they are really hard to get and sometimes not worth the effort and/or time involved, that's it.

The milage does not matter one bit, it's just how clean it is Tyler. I don't know about taking Mike, I think it will be a good race is all (if he can land his shifts in Lift, lol).

As for the date, I'm not sure cause it was only mentioned to me that my club might go. Still not sure on when it is or if I'm even going but I do know that I am going to go see you next Tuesday for sure, all day
