I had a CAI on my first Trix. Cold wet winters here in KY......no problems at all. In fact, cold weather is where is CAI really shines. Your car will run strong on those frosty mornings. If you're worried about hydro-lock, forget it. Contrary to popular belief, h-locking an engine is quite rare. The filter must be COMPLETLY submerged (not half way) with the engine running. Snow, slush, rain, carwashes, ect., are no threat at all. Wet filters DO NOT cause h-lock.

I drove a lot last winter with Injen CAI and TB coolant bypass and it was a particularly cold, often at -40 and down to - 50*F. The only problem I faced was some snow clogging and icing on the filter causing partial restriction. I considered cutting it to make a short ram for the winter but I've decided to enclose the lower compartment where the filter resides, and remove the cover in the fog light hole for summer months. It will still be open over the bumper brace and into engine compartment...

Snow and ice buildup on the filter itself, resulting in reduced air flow and some loss of power.
