    Rubbing with 5Zigen FN01R-C

i have 5zigen 18x7.5 w/ 225/40/r18 tires and +35 offset. when im on the freeway and hit the dips or take hard turns (testing out the tires), the wheels would rub on the plastic thing under the fender. i have hotchkis springs and hotchkis swaybars on the lowest setting. do you think putting it to the stiff setting will help it rub less? how about getting stiffer struts like koni or trd too? im thiking whether i shuold juss get GC coilovers or not but i think i have to get new shocks too. what do u guys think? oh and btw i the only other choice i have for the offset is +48. thanks

With 225 tires, +48 is going to cause rubbing on the inside of the tires. I think your best bet is to go with 215 tires. Slightly narrower and as long as you keep the same 40 aspect ratio, it'll be slightly shorter too. David (hooolala) is actually thinking of running the exact same setup as me (Koni adjustables with TRD springs). He rubs like crazy with his car (Hotchkis springs and sways), but then when I borrowed his wheels/tires for Import Motion, I had no problems. We even went out for a test drive and turned the hardest corner we could and it still didn't rub. So definitely, I'm sure the Koni/TRD combo will help you out. But you might want to try with smaller tires before you drop all that money on a new suspension setup. Maybe you can borrow someone's tires or ask a place like America's Tire Co. if they're willing to let you test fit some 215/40-18 tires and go drive around real quick.

i only prolly loggeed about 20 miles on the tires rite now. u think wheel works will exchange it for a 215?

and how about hotchkis/koni setup...you think it would rub?

I have 18s with +40 offset and 225/40/18 tires and I'm on H&R sport springs, no rubbing problems for me at all.

oh and i juss rmeembered sportivo springs are 225 in front and something close to that in rear. and its higher drop than hotchkis rite? im thinking of putting the sportivo in the front and leave the hotchkis in te back. that way i still get the 300 spring rate in teh back for oversteer yet not rub in the front. what u guys think?

    well

That's the main reason I didn't go for the rims, and I went for MK6. Mine's on Tein S and 215/40/18 with stock struts. rim offset is +42 which is the same as the stock rims.
I have no rubbing issue whatsoever. Your best bet is to go with 215/40/18 I guess.
