Is the 2005 Corolla suitable for tall peoples?

I'm 6'1" and pretty large sized and I'm wondering if the 2005 Corolla is suitable for tall peoples. I talk about 2005 Corolla only for the reason than Toyota claim they put some new seats into the new 2005 Corolla (and that's about the only difference with the previous years models), so maybe it's make the car more suitable for the driver...

This morning at the barber shop while I'm waiting into the waiting room I read some reviews on Corolla into car guides who are left in place for customers. In one I read "the 2004 Corolla offer great space on rear seats, but is was not recommended for tall or wide drivers".

Im 5'11", I have no problems with the 2003, and I have about 2-3 inches extra head room. ID suggest just sitting in one though, thats the only way you will know for sure.

I'm 6'2", 200lbs and I fit fine into our 05 Corolla XRS. I love the feel of the seats, they have the feel of racing seats that keep you from sliding around. Granted the leg room isn't as good as my 03 Harley F-150, but then we're comparing a sport sedan to a full size truck. I do feel it is definately adequite though and quite comfortable. I also suggest going down to the dealership and taking a seat... you'll fall in love with it!!!

Thank you for the info, but the XRS is a out of my budget. I'm looking more for a cheap and gas economic car cause I'm tired of expensive montly payment and low gas milleage. I'll probably go with a CE fully equiped. Anyway, I assume the seats of the CE wil be a littlle bit different, but the legs room is the same.

I'm 6'1" and, as a few of us, I've added spacers under seat's front frame mount to floor. This tilts back the seat base for adequate thigh support and more comfort. It also raises front of seat base for more leg room.
I used custom fitted urethane sway bar end link grommets but you can just add washers or suitable spacer. You would also need longer bolts...

The new 2005 seats are now height ajustable. So I don't think this mod is required anymore.

I'm 6'2" and I wished I had test driven the car a bit more than I did. I assumed there would be at least as much leg room as my old 1995 Corolla, but there is actually less. My girlfriend is 6' and she's just right with the seat all the way back. Do yourself a favour and drive the car for an hour or so before you buy.

I think the japaneses are small guys, that's why Toyota design cars with small legs room!

I don't test drive a Corolla but I recently test drive an Echo Hatchback and the legs room aren't so impressive.. I feel OK, but not really confortable as a tall guy.

I'm 6'4" 190# and fit fine in an 05 'Rolla S. The height adjustable seat and tilt & telescope wheel really help. I wound up buiying an 04 Matrix instead, though...

Did the telescope steering wheel is standard on all Corolla or only on the "S" model? Cause I'm planning to buy a CE fully equiped (package "C")...

I'm 6' with the LE (height adjustable seat)... the problem is the distance from the pedals to the wheel is fixed at slightly less than the distance from my knee to my ankle.. driving the car requires a slightly "splayed out" leg posture much like riding a kids tricycle no matter how the seat is adjusted. It's a blatant enough design error to suggest that maybe it's intentional (give something the Camry can do "better"). Several publications have pointed out the problem (e.g. Consumer Reports. Unless there is an extendable steering column in the 2005, the problem will be the same. It makes "stretching your legs" a legitimate reason for a gas station stop (since you dont need to stop often for fuel)!

Summary, the Corolla is not a suitable car for tall and wide peoples who want to be perfectly confortable for long travels...

I'm 6'2", 270 lbs. It's not a bad fit in a 04 S. Of course not ideal. My head hits the ceiling ocsasionally. I don't bottom out the seat though. I do have a problem with my left leg hurting after a few hours of driving. Not sure why that is. I think it's the position of the dead pedal.

Get rid of the dead pedal - it's evil. If memory serves, you can just pull it off and unscrew a couple of clips that hold it in place.

I'm 6'5, 250 lbs w/ a 03 LE. I used to drive a 97 Corolla and that was tight fit. The 2003 is a much more improvement, because it has a height control on the seat. My wife CE does not have that option and it makes a big difference. I drive about 45 mins each way to work and in my car about 40 mins into my back and legs start to hurt.

6'1 270 with 03 Corolla S and everything fits fine. The only probs i have are when i have certain work shoes with bigger bottoms. I noticed in my mom's CE 04 that i have more room with my corolla.Either way it's accomadating and i drive about 2k a month.
    I'm also Japanese :D

It's a nice fit and I'm 6' tall. The new Corolla's are a little taller and bigger than the older Corolla's so that's a nice upgrade for the bigger people.

6'1" 210 pounds. I felt somewhat comfortable in my Rolla, at best. But it was a little tight on leg room. My Matrix fits me much better.......more head and leg room.

I'm 6' and I like the fit in the driver's seat except for long drive where my left knee usually kill me after 3 hours (like someone said, the dead pedal is in the way so you can't stretch your left leg). I still couldn't find a comfortable way to set the seat for long drives...

Do you think it'll be unconfortable for tall people to drive a manual rolla? I mean... if the legsroom is not so spacious, maybe it'll be better to choose an auto rolla? Cause driving a manual car need a great legsroom, cause you do A LOT more legs movement than driving an automatic car... I hope you understand what I mean (my english is so so).

I've thinked to buy a manual rolla at first, but maybe I'll feel more confortable to drive an automatic one? What do you think about that? I ask that because in the people who reply to this thread, I think I have some automatic car drivers. :)

I am 5'-9" and after driving my car for about 20-30 minutes, my legs get really tired. Especially my right one. I also have a manual. One of my trips to New York, I had to put a small pillow under my legs so I 'd be more comfy. I wish our seats had at least 1 more setting to move back. :(

I also check to get a Matrix, but they appear to take twice time the gas than Corolla take... in the 2005 Matrix brochure Toyota claim the base Matrix (manual) run between 38 and 46 MPG but this is BULLSHIT, I ask many owners and they are unable to run over 29 MPG on highway and sometime 25 MPG when running more inside city! Matrix are definitely not better for fuel consumption than my SE-R and note than my SE-R is 175 HP and the base Matrix was 130 HP (an heavier weight)... you know what I mean...

I also test drive an Echo H/B for fun, it was pleasant to drive for some minutes, but I'm not feeling enough confortable to buy one and use it every day. Did the Corolla offer a better legsroom than Echo? Echo legsroom was not SO bad, but not the best for sure.

I know than I bring back this very old thread from far away, but I just test drove a 2005 Corolla for the first time tomorrow!

First of all, the bad news is I will not be able to change my car by next spring, because I owe 27,000$ (CDN) to the bank and the trade-in value of the car is around 17,000$, then you understand that's impossible to trade it before 2 years (spring 2006) or even 3 years (spring 2007) possibly...

But, the Corolla is simply... AWESOME :what::what:OOOO:what::what:!! The 2005 have height ajustable seat and I'm 6'2", heavy guy, and I feel VERY confortable in it. I test drove it with manual transmission and the shifting is expressive if I compare it with some previous cars I own, the Corolla is a powerfull and a smooth driving car. VERY nice!! Wow!!

I hope Toyota will not make some major changes in the Corola for the next two years, until I can get one at least!! :)
