How often do you change your oil?

Just out of curiosity, how often do you guys get your oil changes done?

I have put a little more than 5000km on my 2k4 Corolla (3100mi) and I've been thinking about doing my first oil change (if, of course, Toyota's "extended protection plan" thing would get their act together. stupid motherfuckers. but that's another story)

    What do you guys do?

Also, do you let them use their oil or do you bring your own? I'm assuming if you bring your own oil for em you use synthetic, so what brand do you all use?

    Just feedin my curiosity ;-)

I did my 1st oil change at 3600 Kms (2235 miles) and it was well due, which is normal for the initial break-in period. I switched to Amsoil synthetic 5W30 and use Fram's Tough Guard oil filter and replace every 10000 Kms (6200 miles).
You may as well do it yourself...

Mobil 1 has a synthetic new car formula designed for newer cars in addition to their traditional synthetic oil for cars with higher mileage. NASCAR did a good promo for Mobil 1 and looks pretty good. I don't see or hear very much reviews for Castrol Synthetic anymore.

If you drive around under normal driving conditions (no hard driving, or dusty conditions), you can extend your oil change to factory interval (5,000 miles).

If you drive the opposite of that plus you have turbo or any forced induction, it would be good to change the oil as frequent as possible. I am still using Toyota factory oil, but I get it done every 2,500-3,000 miles. Keep the oil nice and fresh in there to maintain longevity, especially if you are not using synthetic--change more often.

I work at a Toyota Dealership, in service, and we recommend them every 3K miles on every vehicle.

the basic is to change oil every 3,000 miles. It has been like that for a long, long, time. I don't why they start to change the intervals all of a sudden. I guess due to different oil or the cars are getting to the point where it doesn't need to be changed as often as they use to.

Just do it every 3,000 miles. I don't care what the book says.

Oil changes at 3K miles only add more pollution to the environment. The last two oil anaylsis I've had done on my '03 corolla show great results with 6,000 miles synthetic oil and filter changes.
