Owner BS aside, the GTI 1.8T and the Corolla isn't much of a matchup. The GTI is more expensive, has more hp, and cheap mods yield higher hp. Just looking at the engine bay of that MkIV GTI, the car sported a Neuspeed upper strut bar, a short-ram intake (but they would have yielded more hp with a CAI), probably a GIAC/Neuspeed/Techtonics/insert-brand-name-here chip that yields a minimum 20 whp gain, possibly a K04 conversion...

When the GTI is compared to other cars in it's class, say a RSX or Celica, the GTI would definitely come place last in the handling department.

I think the point of the video is to poke fun at the obtuse (lacking sharpness or quickness of sensibility or intellect) owner.

After watching that, I can’t believe what that guy was saying. I blurted out laughing. Did he point to the intake manifold and called that the TRD race headers? First of all, TRD don’t make race headers for our Corolla, second, exhaust manifold is on the opposite side. Then he pointed to the CAI inlet pipe and called it his turbo downpipe? Did he also mention that the turbo is on the side of the engine which was in fact the alternator? I can’t believe he mentioned the turbo pulley. That's too funny. VTEC heads on a Corolla? I don’t think he knows what he’s talking about.

I wouldn’t want to be in his shoes at that awkward moment.

I think this video is made up. See how he smirked at the end of the video? There is no one that incompetent. They just made this video just for fun.

Why would somebody go to such lengths (get a corolla, install an cai, spoiler, race the gti, etc) just to make fun of the dude or the car? If this clip is fake then who ever made it is really sad and seriously has too much time and money on their hands.
