Transmission being replaced at 43k

Well Monday on my way home from Indianapolis my tranny broke......Apparently something broke loose in there and ended up bouncing around and basically tore all my gears to crap. I was capable of gettin my car to a dealership and their service manager basically told me i'd have to pay for it cuz he didnt wanna deal w/ it cuz i bought my car somewhere else. This pissed me off so i called toyota, they told me it needs to be fixed under warranty and they were gonna take the matter into their own hands. I really didn't feel like being out of a car while toyota and the dealership battled this out, so i called the dealership i always go to and they told me to bring it in and they'd take care of it. So they ordered me a new transmission and are installing my TRD Japan clutch, and clutch plate all under warranty. Should get my car back tomorrow.


To any of the Ohio members, don't deal w/ Brunswick Auto Mart....they are the epidome of shitty service.

i bought my car at brunswick auto mart and yes they are shitty... they are the ones that told my my grille voided my warranty and that my underdrive pulley killed my battery. damn that sux that your tranny went... hope that dont happen to mine... im already at 41,000 miles. were did you get the trd clutch from?

got the TRD clutch and clutch plate from Steve at Sunnyside Toyota........He also has the TRD japan flywheel, and Sportivo struts/springs on order for me.......He's the man.


Sunnyside is the best dealership i've ever been to. I'm glad they're fixing my tranny and not BAM

Good News: Got my car back today, new tranny, TRD parts installed........must say, i love the new clutch and clutch plate. You have to push the pedal down farther to disengage but it engages sooner than the stock clutch. Haven't pushed the car yet, i figure i'll give the tranny 500 miles before i fully test out the clutch.

actually i made money off the deal..........i had my TRD japan clutch and clutch cover waiting to be installed. I had also bought a new throw out bearing for the install. I gave all the parts to the dealer so they could install em w/ the new transmission. Turns out the new tranny came w/ a throw out bearing, so they gave the one i bought back and i returned it for $35.


The new clutch/clutch plate is wonderful. The clutch engages almost instantly, definitely a good mod, for the manual performance buffs to look into.

Also found this out, Toyota now fills our trannies w/ synthetic lube from the factory. I noticed on my invoice one of the charges was for a sythetic transmission fill. I asked the service guy about it and he said that's what they're filling em w/ now. I can definitely notice a difference too. The new tranny is a lot smoother than the one that came on the car.

nope, they said they couldn't tell without taking the entire transmission apart. They musta figured it'd be easier to just take it out, than take it apart.
