Toyota Corolla Verso Coming in 2006!

    http://popularmechanics.com/automotive/spy_reports/2003/1/asia_spy_reports

"Folks at Toyota see a hole in their lineup between the Matrix and the RAV4. So they will bring a version of the Corolla Verso4, already on sale in Japan and Europe, here to plug that gap. Intended to compete with the Subaru Forester, the Verso4 will have all-wheel drive, and power from either the Corolla's 130-hp 1.8-liter 4-cylinder or the 161-hp 2.4-liter Four found in the RAV4. A hybrid model using the drivetrain from the Prius is another possibility."

I personally would like to see them go to a 2.0 liter motor in this. 2.4 will be a gas hog and the 1.8 will be a little under powered.

Does Toyota even have a 2.0 motor?

And isn't the Verso4 essentially the same as the AWD Matrix? I don't see how they'd be filling a market gap with that model.

they could put the 2.0L engine from the rav4 but it's probably more efficient just to build the 2.4lL camary engine

I usually defend Toyota's styling, but I'm sorry, THAT looks like an Aerio.

    When I first saw this...

I saw it as a trend change to more fuel efficient cars. In Europe and Japan, cars are much smaller and more fuel efficient.

I agree with Bewildered, it sure looks like a small minivan.

took the words right out of mouth. Stop making those kind of ugly cars, sheesh. Don't we have enough already with the Scions? What is Toyota thinking? We're all gay or what? I like the way Mazda's making their new models. Agressive design and power efficient. Now those are sharp looking cars.

I hear rumors about a new Supra release in 2006 or 2007, but that is only a rumor. Toyota totally denies it, yet I hear so much news regarding that vehicle.

because they are stupid americans? Why, in the hell........ would i want chris farleys brother as the VP of toyota :?

They should be all japanese. They are aware of the ae86 popularity in america. I am just wondering if there to lazy to bring back a rwd car and redesign it.
