    Cracked windshield !!!!!!!!

A rock and my windshield had a fight, and it looks like my windshield was the unfortunate loser. I went to one place for an estimate -- well, two, if the dealership counts -- and $190 is the price I was quoted. Do you all think this is a good deal, or should I keep looking. This price includes all the mouldings as well as labor, and they promised a turnaround of 1 hour.

And of course, Toyota quoted me an insane price. They said labor by itself would be $185, not including new windshield and mouldings.

if that is to replace the windshield go for it. i have to get mine replaced too and its gonna run me 500 which is dedcutable plus what ever the insurance has to pay. if its for chip repair. the insurance company covers it with no charge. give em a ring.

Yes, but only if the cost is over $500. Given that I found a place that would do it for far less, I'm inclined to go with them. If I went the OEM route with Toyota I'd definitely do it through the insurance co. but rather than deal with the headache of filing a claim -- I've done enough of that in the last six months -- I'll just deal with the $200 (or hopefully even less) replacement.

I just dropped my car this morning to have it changed also, 2 weeks ago a big rock hitted me on the highway (falling from a truck).

I've decided to not use the insurance as the windshield cost is USD 350 (life time waranty agains little rocks and leaking). If you use your insurance they will make your rates increase in a year or so... watch it!
