Because I have a jetta thats hitting limp mode (ecu will say boost limit exceeded) I need to fix it. I flashed the ecu and that redid some of the fuel mapping stuff and increased the boost to whatever the turbo felt like doing, but it felt like making 24 psi. Now I need to cap it at about 18psi or so, which is why I have a boost controller in the mail.

I was going to say 24+ would be putting you in limp mode. Are you going into hard limp mode very easily?

Upgrade your wastegate valve, and you wont have those surges, and youll have smoother boost lines. Do you have a guage?

Invest in a vag com.....and take your car back to whoever flashed it. It shouldnt be hitting that high of boost. Youre going to be replacing your turbo soon. 24+ on an 01 VW is almost 3 times the normal boost from the factory.

Have a boost gauge, which is where im getting my figures, yes ive been in hard limp mode, the mbc will lower the boost to 18 or so, whatever i set it at, and then im getting an n75j, which should smooth everything out

I remember the opposite when the guy was selling the wife's mazdaspeed mx5

MBC can be the savior or the devil in the wrong persons hands.
I have the J valve...havent had a problem with it. Its a hit or miss with that valve too.

Id suggest getting the vag-com...260 from ross tech, with the software. Youll probably experience soft limp mode with the J valve.

Shouldnt be necessary though, the boost limit right now is around 22-23 with the flash or its supposed to be, so dont think it will be a problem once I get that boost lowered. Im getting the overboost kit from boostvalve.com so that should fix it i hope.
