    Toyota Celica

What do you guys think about this car? Everytime I talk to people it's always drawn down the middle. Half of the people say it's a cool car, the other half say it's gay and it's a girls car. I still think it's a hot car with the trd action package. Thoughts?

I think the Celica (GTS) is a great little car. It boost more hp than the Corolla, and does the 0-60 in like 6.5 seconds stock. I don't particularly like the look from the front of the car and needs a complete face lift for me to want it more. It's a small car, then again, it's a coupe. What else can you expect from it? That is why people say it's a girl's car. I hear people say the same thing to the Acura RSX Type S.

It's a NICE car that is ridiculously overpriced. A loaded gt-s comes just short of the price of a base Evo. Plus, toyota changed the action package this year, and gave it factory meatballs (altezza lights).

    Celica info

My buddy just picked up a 2000 GT and he likes it. It is a small coupe car. The new ones are overpriced. When we we're looking for his at dealers they had a 2004 with all avaible options and the sticker said for 27K! Ouch. He paid just 3000 less for his used than I paid for mine new. I think the design is cool and tehre are lots of mods availble. Check out newcelica.org for more info. They helped me & my friend when it came to pricing and options.

TRD is coming out with a supercharger for celica GT so i'd get the celica GT and supercharge it haha. plus compared to corolla, handling and steering is more crisp, which toyota might try to do with the XRS.

    i don't know...i never really been a celica person.

I really don't care for the design, nor the specs.

If i had the cash for a celica i would look at a different car.

It's the same as the corolla supercharger, just different ECU's...........you gotta modify your hood for it to fit.

I can't wait to see the supercharged Celica gt-s. Horsepower's got to peak 200+. I've driven the celica before, and handling is much more superior to the Corollas. That's why the next thing I want to do to my Corolla is to modify the handling.

if ur waiting for trd to make a supercharged gt-s then ur outta luck. i think blitz makes a supercharger for the gts but i hear it sucks and is hella expensive. i'm sure u could make the trd supercharger fit the gts but it would take a lot of work and u'd have to do internal work :?

Why get a Celica GT-s or a Corolla XRS when you can get a Dodge SRT - 4 for $20,000?
I know that during or after my freshman year of college im looking into getting a SRT -4.
Lets face it. The car has the most HP and torque for the buck and I have read EXCELLENT reviews on how it handles, plus I think it looks cool. For now though Im just going to finish out the mods on my car and hopefully it will sell later.

i wouldn't go with the SRT-4 because two years down the road half the parts on the car will have broken

there is no way an SRT-4 will out handle a Celica.

what makes the SRT-4 really attractive is that they come with Stage 1,2, and 3 performance that can push the hp to 300+ at very competitive prices. However, I notice they put a disclaimer on Stage 3 parts saying that it is not street legal.

For the price of a Celica GT-S, I would rather choose a RSX Type S. The RSX outperforms the GT-S in all categories (transmission, engine, handling, price). My other choice would be the WRX. As you all know the WRX can easily outperform the GT-S. For another $5k, there's other options - the Evo 8, STi or a nice used E36 ///M.

Either Toyota or Honda... any turbocharged engine is bound to have more maintenance issues down the road.

The rsx is slightly faster in a straight line, and slightly quicker than a GTS through the slalom. However, the GTS outbrakes the RSX like no other. With different springs, the GTS was the fastest car through the SCC slalom.

ok.... I'm thinking if i have 20k to spend on a car, i buy a used EG civic for say 3K, swap in a H23 for another 4K, slap on a turbocharger, another 4K, New axels, tranny stregnthening, new wheels and tires 7K, Misc expenses 2K, and you've got a car that looks like shit, but will run the quarter mile in 11's with slicks, and could easily be run on the street.

i agree, but try and get financing or insurance on that.

the bummer is none of us have 20g in cash laying around to do things like this with, so we have to finance a car. The SRT, EVO, and WRX are "easier" to accomplish.

    Yeah, I agree with TheBeak.

Too bad I'm only working part time, otherwise, an STi is easily within my reach . If I lived with my parent's that would be even easier, but unfortunately, I don't. I still believe the STi is the fastest car out there, running stock. So until I can work full time or somehow get some extra money, my Corolla does fine for now.

if ur gonna get an EG then try and find a kit to swap in a K20 so u won't be making power only in the top end

an H23 makes plenty of power on the low end... prolbem with the K series is that they're extremely expensive. You can get an SI motor, but in reality they dont make much more power than a 1ZZ, you need to get that A2 head from a type S or the K24 block.... either one is hella expensive.

I love the Celica. I was going to buy a GT-S (no action pack.), until I found out my wife was pregnant. Needed room and 4 doors.....enter the Matrix XRS. Oh well, at least I still got the 2ZZ......hello lift!
