    Bug deflector...

I was thinking about adding a bug deflector to help protect my hood from stones hitting it and taking out chips. I was wondering if anybody else has done this and do you have to drill holes, or do they go on with adheasive tape? I thought about a bra, but I've heard that they can actually scratch the paint.

Its most likely applied by an adhesive.

Your right about bras though. They do scratch up your paint. Even wores they collect moisture behind them when it rains and that messes up the paint even more.

The bug deflector from Toyota is installed with screws, into pre drilled holes. I bought mine 3 mths after buying the my Black Corolla S . Well worth it ,the paint chips have stopped.

    Bug deflector

Mine as the previous poster said has little plastic inserts that snap into predrilled holes under the hood. Then the deflector is held on with screws. On the ends near the headlights there are clips that snap on and again a couple of screws to hold this in place. Just need to make sure you don't crank down on the screws too tight! Only took 10 minutes or so, the only downside is that it is that smoked color plexiglass.

The problem with these deflectors is with the clips - they will eventually wear right through the paint. I had one one my last corolla and I'll never do it again.
