will this drl disable work on corollas?

I read on matrixowners.com that to disable the drl's on a matrix, they say to cut the red/white wire coming from pin 12 and this is easier than the grounding mehtod. Is the wiring the same for the corollas and matrix and will this work for the corolla?

    Disable DRL

I was on there site yesturday and decided to try disabling my DRL's that way. The DRL module is above gas pas pedal in the dash. It's the same as the Matrix. I cut the red/with a white stripe wire and ran a toggle switch from dash. The switch fit perfectly next to the coin holder below wiper controls on left dash. It worked like a charm. Be careful to clip the right wire. It wasn't to hard just a pain to strip the wire in an awkward position.

I say just clip the yellow wire, then theres no switch involved, and your headlights act like normal headlights, switch on, headlights on, switch off, headlights off. Its just like a car without DRLs. And its the easiest DRL disable to do.

the switch is optional, it just gives you the ability to reverse the surgury whenever you want the drl function to work (i dont know why)

if you just want to kill the drl, according to the dirrections in the thread above, just snip the red/white wire, done. no grounding the wire as with the yellow wire trick.

The switch option is probably the smart way to go. That way when you go to the dealer for service, you can reactivate them so they don't notice and void your warranty. I'd hide the switch, though so its not noticable

From what i've been reading you find it above the gas pedal and you cut the yellow one but you have to ground it but if you cut the red/white one you don't??

just making sure i'm reading this correctly. Thanks for your help guys. I'd prefer not to have a toggle switch becase i don't want DRL

Yup, that's what I did. Took me longer to get under the dash to where I could see (I'm 6'4") then clipping the wire and grounding it, lol.

They can't void you warranty cause of that. They would have to prove that cutting and grounding that one wire specifically caused whatever went wrong for it to void your warranty

True, legally they do have to prove that the modification caused the problem, but if they refuse to honor the warranty your only recourse is to pay for the repairs and go to court to recover your money. I'm in the middle of a situation like that right now. I have one of the early Corollas where the dashboard is slowly moving upwards. They say it's caused by a wiring harness I installed behind the dash. They're argument is ridiculous, but there's not alot I can do about it. Best bet is to play it safe and not reveal any mods to the dealer. The law may be on your side, but the law can move very slowly...

Thats what I did, cut the red wire with thin white stripe, id didnt disable them at all, taped off the ends and the drls are still on. In fact not a single thing changed at all, am I supposed to ground something ? I just taped off the two ends. Remember this is the Red wire with white line.
