    Thanks!

Opitron looks much like the new Accord's LED-based dash and I definitely like the restyle of the LE front end. The integrated foglights are a nice touch! Standard ABS with EBD on the LE too!

Since this is from Toyota Canada's site, I'll have to wait until the US spec's are released. I'll cross my fingers though! :D

Stupid xrs weighs 120 pounds more than the S manual. Time for some Carbon Fiber to even things up.

Yeah but the 40 additional HP more than makes up for the additional 120 pounds.

I wonder how different standard options will be in the states. It looks like all the Canadian model lines got some additional bells and whistles thrown in... standard body-colored moldings for CE, alloy wheels and 6-speaker stereo for LE and S, fog lights for LE.

It says the LE and XRS come with the Optitron gauges....does this mean the LE will have the same tach and speedometer as the XRS?

ok.. now i'm confused... take a look at the Feature page (page 8 ), on the engine part it says "1MZ-FE"... Toyota is going to change the engine from 1ZZ-FE to 1MZ-FE????

Supposedly, US trim LE models will have VSC as an option.

    "Fuel consumption Rating
    Manual: 40/53 MPG
    Automatic: 35/49 MPG"

Obviously a Typo. The xrs would have a 3 liter with 197 horsepower then. I doubt that would fit in the engine bay
    [IMG]

As for the gas mileage, probably the same. Could be the 3ZZ-FE 1.5 liter?

I think maybe they have a different method for coming up with official mileage numbers in Canada. The drivetrain is the same.

And the 1MZ-FE thing is a typo.

    That's liters, not gallons.

    I don't think so. There's about 4 liters in a gallon.

After further research, it looks like these are probably Imperial (or British) gallons, which are about 20% more than US gallons. Hence the better-looking numbers.

Also did anyone notice that on the 05 corolla S, the rear bumper on the kit goes all the way around instead of only the parts of the back.

MrDisco is right they are using imperial gallons.. If you convert it to american mpg you get 33mpg city, 44mpg highway for manual and 29mpg city, 40mpg highway for automatic.

This is really false advertising by Toyota.. I wonder if other car manufacturers do this as well?

Not really. Canada is all metric anyway. But they have a strongly British tradition, so when you say "gallon" up there it usually means British gallon not American.

Are you sure about that conversion? That still looks high.

I’d have to say that I am very disappointed with Toyota about this so called ‘re-design’ for the 05 corolla. I wasn’t expecting major changes as Toyota has a 4 year cycle. That being said when I look back at the 2000 Corolla vs. 2001 Corolla, I’d say, thats what you call a ‘re-design’. All they did this time around was make it look like XRS. So comparing the 05 corolla to 2003/04 Corolla…everything is pretty much the same except for the lower part of the front (fog light area). In otherwords..very MINOR changes. :?

I think that means more like the sensor we have that turns on the headlights to full power when it is dark. That's what I think, could be wrong though...

Interesting specs for the XRS. " 16" aluminum alloy wheels with P195/55R15 tires". That ought to be interesting...
