Less than $18k... just barely! Great information.

Styling wise, I'm for the Scion tC. Performance wise, the Corolla is probably better in most categories - except handling. The tC appears to have a lower CG which will likely translate into better skidpad numbers. Utility-wise the Corolla can't be beat.

Any pictures anywhere of the newly designed front and rear?

Also, what's this optitron gauge cluster stuff on the LE?

Just read the specs from above. The new Corolla XRS is definitely much better than the older 2003/04 models. Performance wise, it improved a bunch, but I'm not too crazy about the face lift. They claim that the new 2ZZ engine with the VVTL-i creates a supercharger like response at the higher RPM range. That's pretty nice. I like the new interior guages. Lexus-like.

If I knew they were coming out with that, I would have waited longer. Too late now. I'm satisfied with what I have. I invested too much into it already to be buying a new version.

most of the parts are transferrable rite? springs, swaybars. hah iono how toyota can claim it can have a supercharger-like effect thuogh cuz it doens't have torque. maybe hp wise but definately not torque im really considering on trading in my S for that. the thing that attracted me the most is the better steering response. haha i dont care about the springs cuz if possible, i'll throw in my hotchkis there

    new Rolla look

The newest EW that I just got has an ad for the 05 Rolla. The grill looks like a cross between the Camry, 03/04 Rolla, and atlis Rolla. I like how it looks, but I thought that the "new styling" was going to be just for the XRS. I like how they made a big deal out of the XRS debut though, hopefully it will increase the model grades. Hey maybe they get us those illuminated cup holders like the Lexus and scion models.

The price isn't bad. Now it's a matter of how it'll compete in the market. Although the Scion tC should have good handling, I still think the Corolla XRS would beat it in that department. Only for the simple fact that the Corolla XRS is going to weigh less than the Scion tC. But who knows, let's just wait for both cars to come out to compare numbers. w00t!

today I was told by somebody that the xrs outhandled several other sports cars parked at the toyota test track. It's only problem was not nearly enough horsepower to compete.

hmmm ill wait till all the specs come out. I'm kinda thinking about trading/privately selling mines and buying a used XRS hahaha. That way it should be cheaper.. Are the parts truely transferable and which parts at that? Cause im getting a CAI, sway bars and have my grill and TRD springs already.

This doesn't count as 10th Gen does it? They are changing the exterior of all 4 models of the car somewhat.

i dont know about the pinkish back up lights but id like to voice my opinion on aftermarket for the XRS. Since it does use a 2ZZ engine rather than a 1ZZ engine probably most of the engine parts wont transfer over like pulleys and CAI. But I do belive exhausts and suspension parts will transfer over. there is my 2 cents but we can only watch and see. another question, when will the XRS be released and any idea on how long they will make it?

I still think the 2zz engine isnt all that its cracked up to be..I am more liking the XRS becasue of its 4 wheel disc abs brakes and the new interior more then the engine..the 1zz can more than handle on its own, and the 2zz has the same torque as the corolla..im not that impressed with it.

So would you say that a supercharged 1zz is better and faster than a modded 2zz?

...no, the 2ZZ is far and away a superior engine, while it only has marginally more torque than the 1ZZ the head is much better designed as it flows (intake and exhaust) much better than the 1ZZ could ever hope to as it was designed for a performance application. Mod for mod the 2ZZ will always be superior performance wise to the 1ZZ even though a blown 1ZZ may beat the modded 2ZZ of the line the 2ZZ will walk it down pretty quickly. The 2ZZ in the XRS does make a little bit more torque than the 1ZZ as well.

plus put it in lower compression pistons from wiseco i think. then get turbo for it...or maybe TRD will make a supercharger (doub it), i think that'll be sick

when i pay of my 03 corolla I will trade it in for the XRS for several reasons.
    1)more horsepowe
    2)6 speed manual
    3)sport tuned suspension
4)throw a turbo on there and you could easily gain helluva lot of HP depending on your boost
5)its what every other 4 cylinder car is doing but i have a feeling with this one that this one after you aftermarket it has the potential to be a good car for the 4 cylinder market

next year the 03 will be worth around 10,000 and ill have maybe 3 saved up for it so thats only 5k i would have to pay on it. looks like a good deal to me, but first i need to test drive one.....................

ok so its cool that toyota is making a performance corolla now and all... but personal i think they did it wrong... it looks basically the same... the shoulda made a 2 door model for it or something like that.. you know like the solar camry or something. it cool to take a sedan and make it perform but what do you do with a performance sedan? sounds boring i like the challenge of building my 03 S up... id hate to go buy a car and not have to modify it to make it fast... dont get me wrong i wouldnt mind having the XRS but i wont trade my S for it...

that would have been great but if toyota did that then they might as well give up on the celica cuz this corolla xrs is hella lot cheaper than the celica gts. plus imagine how much u'll save on insurance by having those extra two doors.

if you wanna save on insurance then dont buy an XRS either... insurance companies get the specs for car models so theyll know its a performance model, four door or not ityll still be more for ins than the S

Yeah, I'm gonna have to disagree. If you wanted a 2 door version of a Corolla with the 2zz you pretty much want Toyota to get rid of the Celica. What would be the point in buying a Celica if you would be able to buy a 2 door sporty Corolla with the same engine? It isn't good business sense to do so.

i just did a bit of lookin around and i think toyota needs to make something along the lines of the AE111 and bring it to the states, but with something much more powerful than the 4A-GE
