I need to replace my windshield

so yeah i got a chip in it yesterday cuz some drivers dont know how to hold their lane. i was on I96 commin home from school around 230 and the person in front of me swerved and kicked up a rock the size of a baseball. it hit on the dotmatrix by the inside RVM. here's a pic. i need to come up ith $500 to pay the deductible but i already put all my money into my trip and its too late to cancel all the reservations so i'm gonna drive around with it like that till i come back from India and save up the money in a couple of weeks of work

Sorry about the windshield. Thats the reason I have full windshield coverage on my car, definately worth it.

i'm on my dad's insurance so i dont get to make those decisions, just pay deductible for any damage that is done to my car.

down here windshields are always a no deductable thing. you can go through them at a rate of one per year with no out of pocket expense (heck the windshield companys even do the paperwork...)

yea in FL, its a law, insurance companies have to pay for the winshield fully without a dedcutible. good luck getting it fixed though.

Michigan's very well maintained roads and a hunger for money for the business giants makes for a nice combination

That sucks. I have a crack half way across my window on the passenger side from a rock. No comprehensive coverage == not getting fixed until summer.

I hope that was a facetious remark... well maintained roads in the midwest? There's more pocketmarks in the pavement than an acne-bound teenager.

As for the crack in the windshield. Looks like a "bullet" mark. I would open your local telco's phone book and call around. There is a possibility that this could be repaired (not windshield replacement). Of course, the severity of the damage will determine whether it can be repaired. Something to check out as it's much cheaper than windshield replacement.

yeah that was sarcasm. MI has some of the worst roads i've seen. ppl say Jerzy is bad but not quite, i think MI takes the cake. as for repair. i've checked with 2 places so far and same answere, u need to replace it. the pic doesnt do it justice. the area around the initial hit the size of a dime is smashed as in the glass will crumble off if i pick at it.

Well... as long as your deductible is low, I'd go for replacement. It's damage to the car, but flying rocks are just a part of life... it sux!

An idea that's worked for a couple friends of mine is getting a phone
number and license plate of a semi truck hauling rocks or other debris.
A lot of the times the companies will pick up the tab if their trucks were
the cause of your windshield getting damaged. It's worth a shot.

cant get a phonenumber cuz it was lying on the ground, got kicked up by another driver cuz they swerved. gettin their plate would not have helped cuz MI is a no fault state so i would have to pay for it regardless and my deductible is $500

I've noticed that something makes the 03 corolla's windshields more prone to damage from rocks. I've had 4 bulleye type of cracks from rocks SO FAR.
