    Good Webhosting?

Whats a reliable and inexpensive (or free) web hosting company? I don't really need too much features except some hosting space and prefebely (sp?) banner-free. just a basic plan..thanks

I've been researching this because I'm planning to get my parts site off geocities.

    http://www.hostyourdomain.com/products/basic.htm
    $25/yr for 1000MB storage and 10GB transfer
(If I had a 1000MB's I would set up an FTP server for everybody. Unlike my AIM thing that I had to take down eventually.)

    or http://datapacket.net/host.asp
    $3/yr?? for 500MB storage and 5GB transfer

I'm not sure how it can be 3/yr. Seems way too cheap. I'm planning to go with the hostyourdomain one shortly.

yup, three years of 500mb server space, with domain name and all the othe "normal" fluff for 18 bucks. total.

(though i fuly expect to be mildly fleeced once the promo period is over)

If you're using a broadband ISP, you should be getting some free hosting space somewhere. I'd check with your ISP.

There are many free web hosts, but most come with limits on bandwidth and they're full of ads... Angelfire, PROHosting, freeservers, cjb.net...
