    tweeters

    Hey all

Are the front door inserts different on the S/LE models than on the CE? I just tried getting tweeters and replacement door inserts for factory 6-speaker system and they didn't fit my CE. Did they give me the wrong parts or are the doors just different?

I'd be very surprised if there is any difference in the door frames between the CE, S and LE. That wouldn't be a smart manufacturing move. In what way do the new parts not fit?

Well, the speaker bracket is way too big. The bolt holes are misaligned by miles and the assembly wouldn't fit under the original cover. The replacement cover is also too big.

I wonder if maybe they were from a Camry instead of a Corolla.

They're ordering a different set of part numbers it might be just in case... hopefully those will fit.

EDIT: Anybody have part #'s for the tweeters and covers that come with a factory 6-speaker stereo?

Nevermind... it turns out they'd given me the wrong parts. The replacement came in today and it fit perfectly.

So there... you CAN get the factory 6-speaker stereo in a CE. 8)

Yep. The wiring connectors and bolts are already in the door. I just ordered the speakers and the corner garnish to cover them. It took all of 10 minutes to put each one in.

Kinda pricey, though, at over $100 for all the parts. That was from the dealer. I would've probably been better off getting them from a junkyard instead. Oh well.

Toyota really needs to make this an accessory upgrade. It's dead simple to install.

How about Infinity Reference 6000cs instead?

For $100 I think I would get some Infinity Reference 6000cs. They come with 6 1/2 drivers and separate tweeters which can be mounted in the window corners and would sound much better than the original front speakers. Maybe a little more work to install, though.
