Can our ECU handle a BOV? Or can the supercharger suplemental ECU handle it?

I guess you can install it...but there really isn't a reason to...and I'm not sure that you'd get the sounds either.

A blow off valve is just a one way valve set to let air out once the pressure gets too high. Most are mechanically adjusted...so the ECU has no control over it.

where would you put it? there's no pressurized pipes...unless you wanna try to install it on the intake manifold somewhere...which would be a very bad idea.

besidea, you get a nice supercharger whine...thats a pleasant sound for the civics to hear as you blow by :)

you'd have to install a BOV on the intake manifold.........it'd be very expensive and unwise to do so.

Don't they have fake ones that go "pshhh" everytime you take your foot off the pedal? I think I saw it somewhere on this board somebody was selling it on ebay, it was supposedly the ones used in movies like the fast and the furious. Wouldn't that be better than putting in a real blow off valve? Basically thats what your going for, a non-functional blow off valve just for the noise. If you look around you migth be able to find it. Not my type of thing, and you might get people saying that its "gay" or "rice". But hey, its your car, and if you got the power of a s/c to back it up, then you'll probably get lots of  looks.

Dude do they really make fake ones? I think that would be funny as hell. I always tell people how slow my car is but it be so sweet to see what they would do if they heard a fake blow-off valve.

hell yeah they do. they make a little thing that goes in the exhaust pipe and sounds like a turbo spooling up too, and they make a fake BOV sound thing. So basically, if you got the fake turbo sound in the tailpipe, and the fake BOV, and just mounted up an intercooler in the front of ur car, no one would know the difference...unless you tried to race someone or ever opened your hood... Personally...just buy a damned air intake for that kinda money.

just get a cai it really makes the car sound great. even at a light the will wonder whats under the hood. and even though you have an auto like mine was it was an awsome sound. there are some videos out there somewhere of me driving my supercharged rolla in a parking lot it is a very nice sound and very loud when you hit the gas much better than any blow off valve.

if you cant find the vids on line i have them on my computer and can upload them to anyone that can host them for me.

There is a good article about the TRD Supercharger for the Corolla at:
    www.trdusa.com (look under supercharger link.

After reading that, I most definitely want to get it now. TIme to do some serious charging on my credit card.

Not only is it completely legal and pass all SMOG and Emissions, but it is also included under factory warranty. Unbefreakinglievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!You get tons more performance out of it then naturally aspirated engine. You got to have forced air induction to compete these days or nitrous.

Who wouldn't want that? Unless you don't care about warranty and EMissions, go all out with a turbo kit. For me, I care, so that's what I'm going to get. Turbos are nice but they generate much more heat. THe engine bay will be like an oven compared to a supercharger, which by the way runs cooler. Besides, I don't see much turbos available for the 03 Corolla.

I may end up adding a transmission cooler and a boost gauge to measure the psi of the supercharger. Can't wait to get it..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Going to be my best mod ever.

So, come on everyone. Let's all get superchargers installed and show whose got a better ride. Start charging your credit cards and support Toyota. Screw those Civics and Integras and wannabe Lancer "Really?" Edition. Pshhhhhhhhhhh.

Smoke them all in my 5 speed soon to be supercharged rice rocket. Plus with my air intake attached to it, forcing more air and boost controller.

You can tell I'm getting excited huh? That's what happens after reading up on superchargers. I just want to go out and start racing everybody. Smoke them alllll to the south pole.

More like 157-160hp at the crank calculating a very conservative 15% drivetrain loss.

And ya, he's on Trip A. His car actually has closer to about 15,000 miles on it. I've had my car since beginning of May 2003 (10 months) and I have 25,000 miles on already. So I'm averaging 30,000 miles a year. I'm sure there's plenty of people out here who have cars running tha tmuch as well.

although... david... not everyone's catalytic converter breaks down after 15K. MUAHAHA... HAD to add that comment.

lol.... atleast i'm not the worst.. i remember somebody on here blow his engine because of the supercharger (forgot who is it)....

hey... that 15% is for manual... normally automatic losses about 25~30%.. remember the dyno we did at modacar when my car was stock??? corolla was rated 130hp by toyota and my car produce 104 to the wheel.. which is about 30% loss... soo 134whp is = to about 174 to the crank..
