    Short Shifter Owners

For those of you out there who own short shifters... how do you guys like it? I saw a picture and it looks really really low. Is it a hard reach? And just any overall opinions? Thanks!

    TWM Short Shifter from pTuning

I love mine. The throw is much shorter. Feels a lot like my old MR2. Had to get use to it the first two weeks or so. As long as you are over 5'3" and don't always rest your hand on the shifter, you'll be ok.

Yep, it is really low, IMO. I hear people getting use to it quickly, though, like rolla_dink. I'm waiting til they have one out that's a little longer than the TWN. Wondering if/when TRD is going to make one for us.

i have the TWM short shifter. haha sorry to correct but it's TWM not TWN. anyways, its a lot shorter and stiffer shifting, but you'll get used to it quickly. reverse is kinda hard to get into in a sense that u have to put more pressure to the right, then more pressure going down. i'll post a pic when i go on my other computer. or other people can too

    Pics?

Would you recommend it? I friend of mine drives an Infinity G20 and he sez his favorite was the short shifter... was wondering if you guys have a similar feeling?

haha yeah, That's why i like that the TRD ball knob. Only 30 dollars. I don't understand how momo can charge 80 bucks for just something you screw on and doesn't offer more functionality...

im gonna take some pics today, i stole mf gf's camera :) I LOVE THE SHORT THROW! The only problem i have had is when i took my car back to the dealer and 1st gear was squeaking and the tech(who i know) said it wasnt warranty work and i said bs, its the tranny makin the noise, not the shifter. It turned out to be that the linkage needed greasing. I will have the pics later for you guys :)

Check out my updated cardomain page for a pic of the short throw with trd knob...fyi-i stood a cd up next to it and it was the same height, so for all you perspective TWM owners, you can tell how short its gonna be. [/i]

...I got my TWM short shifter installed today (w/the help of my cousin). It was a 2.5 hour install, that washer was a pain in the arse, but we didn't break it (we actually had to reuse it b/c the TWM broke). Removing the plastic holding the shifter itself was also a challenge, but we finally got it all done. The new reduced height is very nice and the improved throw is even better. It is an interesting install though.

I've never really liked the way the TWM shifter looked, so I made one myself, its 2 inches shorter than the factoryn one, and it took me 1 1/2 hours to remove, cut, weld and re-install it. there are pictures on my cardomain site listed below.
