    TRD Mufflers, worth it?

What do you think about having a TRD muffler installed on an 03 Corolla? It's no catback, but is it comparable to the performance gains of a cataback system? Also, from the pictures I've seen from TRD muffler systems, it looks like the muffler tip will hit the back of the rear skirt of the bumper. Shouldn't the tip have a downward angle to them to prevent obstruction with the stock body kit on the back?

another thing, the VVT-i technology in our car's work under vaccuum. Does backpressure of an exhaust system (TRD exhaust) compromise the overall engine performance? I want to try to keep the car under warratny which is why I am interested in the TRD parts. If not for that, I'm free to aftermarket items.

yea...the trd muffler only gives like 2-3hp ...more sound than performance...but i increased my piping to 2.25...with the trd muffler and ti seems more responsive in the mid to top end...but didnt lose any low end at least i didnt feel any...and the tip is actualyl pretty low from the kit....but it'll definitely scrape on curbs or driveways if u lowered your car...even wiht TRD springs fully loaded...no matter how slow i go...i still scrape my tip on driveways even at an angle...i guess because SF has high ass curbs and driveways =I...and its extremely quiet too ...nice deep tone rumble at low rpms..if u want loud TRD is not for you =)...

well, it looks like the TRD is better according to the replies for this topic. People are saying that it sounds good, not too loud, but at the same time getting some performance increase. I may end up getting the TRD muffler and a TRD intake later on.

I have the TRD exaust and I'm very pleased with it. What I like about it the most is that has a nice deep tone and is not too loud either. At the same time you can notice a bit of performance specially on high ends.

i have TRD and my friends are like soooo freakin jealous, they say it's the best sounding muffler in the market, all my friends have greddy, HKS, Tanabe, and APEXi exhaust and theirs sounds like shit after 6 months... and mine still sounds sweet, if u look at turbo magazine on their exhaust review u should see that TRD has the best gains ever for exhaust... trust me TRD is the way to go! only problem is the $$$ to buy a TRD exhaust!

That's some good feedbacks everyone. Definitely made me a believer. I went ahead and ordered the TRD muffler so it should be here soon. I can't wait to put it on!!
