Interesting incident...read this...re: Braking, engine etc..

ok...i was going downhill on a 35 mph road....i exceed that speed limit to 45
so I decided i better slow down before i get pulled over and sooo..i
pressed on the brake mildly and stayed with that "level" (what i mean is that i didnt release the brake nor pressed any harder until i reached 40mph) when i decreased the speed to 40mph and stayed w/ that speed for about 5 to 10 secs... and so i finally released the brake... and guess what!!...something weird happen....my speed stayed on 40mph and so as my RPM to 2000 and i could hear my engine reving....then as i get closer to make a full stop....i pressed on the brake again and everything went back to normal....

very interesting....i dont know if there's something wrong w/ the my transmision
or maybe its how they uniquely build these engines...

    hmmm....not sure....

But cruise control won't activate until reaching 55mph, right?

What gear were you in? Were you in Drive or Neutral? The engine revving at 2000rpm at 40mph would be normal under engine braking assuming you left it in Drive or even a lower gear than that. There was probably nothing wrong with your engine or transmission. When you released the brakes, there was nothing left to slow you down and so therefore you were relying on engine braking. At 40mph under normal driving, you'll notice that the RPMs are around 2000. Your tranny/engine seems like it is behaving normally as it should. You could probably try reproducing the same situation again by doing the same things you did this time.

Untrue. I think there's a threshold, say 15mph, but I know that it's much lower than 55mph since I've has the cruise on at 40mph.

I use my cruise control through a stretch of 25mph road though a school zone that the cops would LOVE to pull you over in.
    ...that's all I got.

    2 word for everyone

    Tourqe Converter!

They lock up, and unlock to perform certain tasks. Fact is, youcar can be in drive and get all kinds of RPM at all kinds of diff speeds, in any number of gears. You dont really only have 4 gears with the TQ conv, it makes the tranny much better!

Gearing down in the rolla is almost pointless for slowing down. The engine is sooo slow to slow down that you would rear end the guy in front of you before the car stopped. Sometimes I would gear down for corners to keep the power high in the rpm, but other than that you have to rev match and use the barkes to get anything good out of it. Its best to just put it in N let go of the clutch and use the brake to stop. It will keep the clutch in tact much longer as well.

Not to sound dumb but, I didn't know these cars had cruise control. I have a man rolla, how do I activate it if it can be activated. Sorry for the ignorance. :D

    But willing to learn. :D

If you have cruise you would have had to get that option. It will be a stick that comes off the steering columb right underneath the wiper switch. It will say cruise on it. If you dont have that peice, then you didnt pay the extra for it. Even the 5spds could have cruise. Mine did at least.

Ohh thx... So in other words I don't have that option .....
As a matter of fact I don't even have a sunroof or moonroof, ur choice, and its an S.
None of the Rollas in PR have sunroof. :?
