2001 Rear Lower Tie Bar Installed



Check it out, I got a rear lower tie bar off eBay and it was the wrong part but with a little drillin and some washers I 'GOT 'R DONE'.

I was told by many members that makes no difference

I noticed a huge difference in high speed cornering. Usually my back end feels like it shimmys back and forth now it feels solid. I think the way this bad boy works is it takes the two long ass not so big bolts that go though both control arms and ties them togather. By doing this the bolts can't rotate around when the bushings move around and the bushing itself is more stable. Afterall the control arm is really only getting support from one end of the bolt. Even if it does turn out it does nothing its one more part I put on my Corolla so I don't care However it wasn't the easiest mod I ever did since I had to drill out the mounts and reverse them and buy washers from the hardware store to do it

yeh but i dunno, the need for drilling holes in order to put that on makes me feel iffy bout that, plus i dont think that really fits our cars.

wow man if it was any shorter than that, i'd say you probably woulda wasted ur money. i mean if it WAS shorter to make it fit, you coulda just gotten a piece of thick metal and drill holes in it to make it do the same.

but then again, i give you salutes for bein guinea pig just as i was for the floor bar. it's people like us who give people the ideas and confidence in buying a product that u cant go touch and inspect for urself.

pretty neat. if you have been to toyrolla.com or not here is what i do know. I met up with a Toyota designer in houston a while back and he said that the cars that do not have the fold down seats and have a V shaped metal rear bar in the center are about 30% stronger than those that have fold down seats.My 98 did not have that since the seats folded down and the 01 S has that bar and let me tell you it was significantly stronger. For those of you that have fold down seats you can still put it on but you will need longer bolts. So if your looking for a stonger and better planted rear suspension setup I highly suggest you put one on if you do not have one. It just takes patience.

Yeah if it wasn't for us guys nobody would take risks hehe. The exhaust is a full catback alphawerks exhaust. I love everything about it except for it pissing off my Oxy sensor which I now have to get a Oxy emulator to correct the engine lamp.

I have an 01 S The V metal thing is pretty cool but I sometimes wish I had fold down seats.

I'll trade you my fold down seats for your black S seats.

It dosen't look like it does anything.. just hanging between the lower control arms where they bolts up to that large metal subframe.

fastrolla has one on his 96....he also says the same about how much better his car started to handle around sharp turns....

I can't even put one if i wanted to because then i have to take off the underbody sheild and that thing my friend call a (underbody ferrari style spoiler). Its a piece of modified metal that looks like a regular spoiler but reversed and facing the opposite direction. causing a (sucking) on the rear, same goes for the front. So i doubt i would put one on.

you people are fucking retards. That bar in particular is a piece of shit, looks like stainless steel wrapped with fake carbon fiber. May it stiffen the chassis somewhat? probably, but not much. Will it make nay fucking difference in handling? NO, you still have rubber bushings in the suspension that will flex and and cause as much deflection as it would without a tie bar. Put urethane bushings on it if you want to actually make a difference. That little piece of shit is not doing a god damn thing you fucking ricer.

it actually increases crossmember rigidity by 8 percent so i guess it does work after all. I just got off the phone with my friend and he said this. so you are lucky he said to be carefull it you hit it as it may cause light damage to your crossmember.

I can understand lower tie bars on civics/integras, because they have a double wishbone setup in the rear but our corollas has a independent MacPherson strut suspension.

because it increases structrual rigidity. I believe him since all he does is work on making car frames stronger and he's pretty smart about his work. he also points out how allows for stonger holding of the tie rods which is why it makes it stronger.

I still dont see the point of installing a tiny bar between the toe adjustable lateral arms where they attaches to the rear crossmember
