    while that's great, there are 2 problems.

    a - if it's as secure as gmail, no thanks. paypal is more secure than gmail.
    b - ebay probably won't recognize it as a usable payment, because ebay OWNS paypal(as far as i know...i could be wrong).

    I am sure that google can handle the safety problem.
    And as for ebay not accepting it, that is none of their problem at all. Sure they might not use it in their checkout feature, but you can pay the seller however you want, as long as they are willing to accept it. I.e. you can sell the sender a check and that has nothing to do with ebay, as long as the seller wants to take a check. Western union money transfers, escrow (other than escrow.com), bidpay etc/etc are used by people buying and selling on ebay, which are neither operated or owned by ebay or one of their companies.
