PIAA Spark Blue 7500K Headlight bulbs

Has anyone tried those before? 7500K sounds like it's going to look exotic. I want to get that with a headlight upgrade kit. Please give me some feedback.

Do they really look like hids -bright HIDS? I'm very interested in achieving that blue/purple superbright light from the low beams. It's been real hard figuring out which bulb to use. Currently I have some 4300K lights, the only downside is that its not bright at all. Also when the lights are off the blue coating over the blub is actually reflected in our headlamp lens, kinda giving a cheap look. Anyway, let me know if these are superb!

Unless you like the "Ion-bulb-look" I would stay away. It isn't what you think it will be. The cast of the light is rather greenish-purplish, not the deep purple that I think you're imagining. Get HID.

Thanks for the advice, I'm trying to get my hands on some CATZ or McCulloch HID kits, but its been real hard finding a place that sells them. Especially since CATZ themselves are offering full buy back of the kits - not many people are carrying them. I want an HID kit thats above 5000K, something like the BMW HIDs or even the Q45 HID, those are extremely bright. If anyone knows where I can obtain one, let me know!

If anyone with HID's retrofitted in their car can comment on their level of satisfaction with both color and brightness and then state what type they have, I think we'd all appreciate it. I've used the search function and what I'm seeing is that most have CATZ or McCulloch, but it's extremely difficult to find anyone selling them now. Please let me know where I can get my grubby hands on one.

u can see in the pics that they give great night time visablity...the color may be a lil too blue for some people...u can see the difference between mine and my friends IS300...i believe the IS uses 5000k HID. i'm totally satisfied w/ my HIDs...i think it was the best mod i did and i refuse to take them off =)

Man that car looks sweet! I love the front man. I'm gona copy you if you don't mind, except for the foglights (for now anyway since im a bit cash strapped). In the pics the lights look very bright, but in the original thread you stated that the hid's you have dont light up as brightly as 5100K. Why is that?

Also, if its so bright do you attract the fuzz, the boys in blue...ahh screw it im outta clever things.

I'm looking for that kit from McCulloch but no luck man!

definately one of my favorite mods too. i have the CATZ 5100K kit.. its NICE AND BRIGHT.. lights up everything!!! and actually the IS300 are 4300/4500K HID.. most factory HID's are acutally 4300-4500K

Yes i agree too, go with the HID kit if u can find one
    its definitely an excellent upgrade
however, if u reli want to go replacing the bulbs for the mean while, get Piaa Xtreme White / Xtreme Force or SilverStarts
they aint that expensive and will brighten up the road for sure
+ looks bluish white too instead of the greenish purple

You'll get the greatest light output with lower Kelvins. The best color (or most natural color) is about 4100-4500k. Any higher than this and you're actually REMOVING the amount of visible light that you'd get by benefit of the HID's.

    4100-4500k = 3100-3300 lumen
    7000k = 2200 lumen

While the 7000k HID's still have greater light output than regular halogen bulbs, why would you want to see the entire world in a purple filter??

If you're after the purple effect, buy sunglasses with purple lenses and wear them at night... it'll be much cheaper.

this is actually one of the last pics i have of my car before i started parting it out
    [IMG]

i don't really mind if you copy me or not...look at my sig my car is going stock so you can do what ever you want

bimmernut pretty much answered your question about light output and kelvins for you =)

and no cops have not given me any problems...i've driven by lots of cops and have not been pulled over for my HIDs *knocks on wood*

If you really want HID's just type "HID kits" into Google and I'm very positive that you'll find several non-US retailers. Some of those retailers are even selling Bohmen's...

No HID kit will ever be found as an OEM part on any vehicle. That's why they're called kits. Personally, I like the CATZ kit the most, but since CATZ is no longer importing HID kits to the US it might be tough to find one. Bohmen is German, but that really doesn't have any bearing on overall perfomance. I just listed Bohmen as one of your options since I know that there are several retailers still selling their kits.

As far as OEM goes, Hella is probably one of the HID leaders. Also be aware that no matter what anyone says Hella does NOT make any HID kits.
