The paint on lower doors Bad?

    The paint on lower doors Bad?

    The paint on my 03 corolla s is bubbled like bad the lower 4-5 inches. Now Ive seen similar on trucks like a anti rust style paint but I guess Im saying ive never noticed it till now on the toyota, suggestions?

    It's supposed to be there. It's on all our cars. Orange Peel, is what I think it is.

    orange peel is very common...they actually apply a thicker layer of paint to the lower portion of the car since it is more prone to scratching and chips than the rest of the car

    its this thing called gravel guard... well thats what the body shop told me. Its a more flexible paint surface and prevent chipping when rocks hit it and stuff.

    Hmm, I was just going to ask about this one also. So, everyone here have that?

    I alwasy thought it was an inperfection... :cry:

    so did i at first and i didnt believe the toyota service guys here in town so i went to an independent body shop and they confirmened what the toyota techs told me.

    I've got that stuff on the lower part of the door too. I first noticed it on my passenger side. My car had been totally keyed on the passenger side within the first 1.5 months (my car was TOTALLY stock except for a TRD CAI) and so the whole thing had been repainted. I thought the shop had messed up on the paint job, but then I compared it to the driver side. It is true, the lower section feels bumpy.
