hooked up my sub box backwards.

if i hooked up my subs backwards would they still play at all.? what happens if you didn't realize for about 5 minutes and then corrected it. Big issues.???? everything seems to be ok just want to make sure i didn't screw something badly...

It shouldn't be a huge issue. Not sure how your setup is, but one thing I know is that if you have two subs in the same box and wire them opposite of each other, the opposing motions of the cones pretty much cancel each other out.

If you wired the polarity "backwards", the Phase will be reversed and the BASS might sound 'muffled'. This will not damage anything.

na the subs were wired correctly.

see i pulled my box out for a day or two to move some stuff. Then i went to put the box back into car and i couldn't remember which wire was power or ground. and most of the wire is all one color but the one wire has the writing stating brand names and gauge of wire ect. and the other wire was plain. well i hooked it up and was playing the subs moderatly but i swear i could smell just the slightest electrical smell. I was super paranoid anyways at this point. so i pulled over on the side of the road imediatly and called the audio shop that installed all of this and sure enough, i had it hooked up backwards. I hooked it up correctly and everything plays fine and sounds great.

    i felt so stupid.
but since this i have labeled the wires so if i remove the box again i can figure it out.
