sorry I can't answer that question... but since you already brought up this topic, I was wondering if it's also possible to "lower" the seat height? I feel like I'm driving a SUV the way I sit in the car.

some racing seats will bolt right to the stock brackets, some come with their own brackets, others come with no brackets at all and require modification to fit. It would probably be best to ask the company before you buy. As for lowering your seat ask any tall miata owner  they usually remove as much foam as comfortably possible, and when that isn't enough they usually go to a racing seat

Depending on the type of seats you get, if you get something like Sparco, Recaro, Matrix Racing, etc. you will mostly likely (to a degree of certainty of about 90%) have to get new brackets and get them customized. Someone who works at Andy's Auto Sports (white 03 Corolla), got Matrix Racing seats mounted to modified Sparco seat brackets.

    Re: Aftermarket racing seats?

in all honesty racing seats are cool but i find them kinda unpractical for daily driving. i'd just go with some custom fit seat covers. i ordered some from Peter Pang (supershyguy) and they should be here by the end of the month. i'll post pics cuz i did the DIY back in the day too and you can see for your self it is something you want to pursue

I would go with a Cobra Misano driver's seat.

if the racing seats would require some modification of the seat brackets i'll just go with seat covers...the wetoakole one's look tight

    Re: Aftermarket racing seats?

Well it's all personal preference I suppose. I've had the opportunity to sit in Sparco Torinos and they feel really great. They countour to the body real well. And it has that memory foam stuff too, so the "fit" to my body is perfect. And with my style of driving, even moderately turning into corners throws my body sideways. I can really appreciate the extra holding that is provided by racing seats. And I think they are far more comfortable than the stock seats. I feel like I could really fall asleep in them.

the only reason i say that is because of the shape of the seat. i mean onece youre in it, it is comfortable, but the way it is shaped getting in and out of it wiould be an issue for me. that's the only reason why i wouldnt do it if the car was my daily driver

Why does everyone think they need to go and have custom brackets made for racing seats???

Corbeau has brackets for just about every car out there INCLUDING the 03 corolla. They bolt right to the racing seats and mount to the stock mounting points in the car.

Why don't you just wait for the Corolla XRS next year and get the sport seats from that?

well the brackets dont move at all, it just there to connect the seat to the floor.

the slider is what yuo will need for you 'long legged folks' so yuo can slide back and forth and that should come with your seats.
i am sponsored by matrix, the brackets are 280 from sparco, or you can get it at some other place, someone mentioned it in another post somewehre, sorry i forgot.
