Optima Battery with no mods to stock terminals etc.

Got battery today, the SC35R, 5 min install,

Terminals are a perfect stock fit,

I did use the 1 inch plastic spacer that goes under the battery, it comes with the battery, so make sure you get it, it is free but you may have to ask for it, also the tabs on the mounts miss by a 1/4 inch so I used a 3 inch piece of 1/4 inch fuel line hose to help the gap and cushion the strap on the battery.

    So...

    Optima Model # SC35R
    Optima part # 8020-164
    Interstate part #SC35A

Interstate seem the easiest to deal with, probably will not find this in Pep Boys or Wall Mart etc. it has been out for almost a year but with all the misinformation* (see below), even from Optima themselves it may take some time before the retailers carry it,

    Enjoy… :D

    From the earlier post:

SC35R OPTIMA is the best fit and correct one, not the 75/35 the book calls for....

This has the post reversed, spoke with Optima and they have the wrong info in their books as they get it from a Battery Manufactures Association paid to test all the applications of theirs and other manufacturer’s batteries, Spoke with a manager and he said I was correct and he would fix it.

So when the battery is facing you??

pos right and neg left and the posts are towards you, turn it around and....

pos is on the left, neg is on the right and the posts are away from you, should be the perfect fit for the 03 / 04 Corolla

Optima's website sucks, does not even show a battery for 1995-2004

Excellent detective work! What's the CCA on that SC35R? Lots more than the stock battery?
