    my rolla back fires?!

i got a 00 rolla with a K&N filter and a TRD exhaust and it backfires.... not alot but enough to be hear. When u rev the engine it can be heard especially when i was messing wit the tranny today put it into L and went about 25mph and i let go off the gas and let it slow down on its own and as it revs down it back fires very quickly and often....

    Is this normal?

Me too...occasionally when I drop it into 3rd to slow down I hear, not reallly backfire, but the exhaust sound skips. It isn't a smooth sound that starts high and winds its way down. Kinda like hiccuping.

hehe you guys would flip with my rolla...

rough idle - not too rough tho, just sputters a little every now and then but it DEFINITELY does not just sit there and purr.

backfire between shifts - i like launching four foot flames out of my exhaust during shifts

however, i have good reason for running like that.

550cc injectors, 255lph fuel pump, 2.5" exhaust, nutty fuel map and ignition map and BOOSTED! lol ;)

the idle is 1200-1500 rpm for mine any lower and it will rumble and possiby turn off. and the fuel is continous in my injectors.

backfiring is perfectly normal.. where did you expect that unburned fuel to go when you step off the gas? the injectors dont shut down instantly when you lift your foot, so that fuel has to go somewhere :D

my car does it :D little puffs of flame out the side of my car hehe

yeah i know, and when it get really low it sounds like a deep throaty sound on the exhaust. like if it was a v8. the gas on the other hand it uses quite a bit regardless. and thats because the injectors have all been replaced and it still does the same or it did when it was working.
