How did you paint them. Did you take everything out and do it? What type paint, and how did you get out the air vents?

Krylon Fusion, yeah i pulled it out masked off what i didn't want painted and as for the vents, open the door and where the vent wraps around, just hold there and pull straight out

I've been thinking about redoing my dash and trim pieces in BRUSHED ALUMINUM. I've seen the flat dash kits that are offered, but though they look nice at first, they seem kind of tacky after really looking at them closely and having them for a while. So instead of a flat kit, I want to get my dash pieces painted/coated. I figure that way I won't have the raised edges that the flat kits give, AND I'll have a perfect factory fit as well. Exoticwooddash.com offers custom coating service, but the only way I can do it is to ship off my pieces to their factory in New York, and the turnaround time is 2-3 weeks. It costs about $250 total for all my pieces, which is a good price considering how much a tape-on flat kit would have cost, but I can't live w/o my car's dash and trim for 2 weeks. I even tried the dealership to see how much it would cost just to buy the pieces, and even with my hookup, it'll cost me nearly $100 just for the center console pieces. If anyone knows how I can get them nicely coated in brushed aluminum in like one or two days, anywhere in Northern California, esp. Bay Area where I live, or even down in So. Cal since I'm going down this weekend, I wold really appreciate it. Thanks!

The person who commented on how the door inserts match must be color blind.

I don't want to say it looks ugly, but the door inserts are way to light of a red and don't match that well. I think that for the color of your car I wouldn't of gone with such a light and dark red contrast. Especially with the color of your dash being so light to have such a light red accent it makes it look strange.

This is only my opinion though so if you like it thats all that matters.

Ok, now go back up to the second picture and look at the drivers' side upper vent. Compare it to his drivers door insert.

Looks like a pretty damn good match to me...

It's how the light is hitting the different areas of the interior that makes it look like some areas don't match.

I dont think its fair for anyone to try and compare a hue of red on the net with a camera pic. The color transfer is just not true enough.

I mean, my car looks like its mint when I take pics of it, but if you saw it in real life you would see all the rock chips on the hood and bumper!

thanx for the comment john oh and carbon b, my camera sux, if i had a scanner still i'd use my dad's Nikon SLR and take one to show you, in real life there is no difference. the cloth just reflects a lot cuz of the glossy finish on it. that is part of the reason why. if you look at the door insert DIY i did, the pix look like i used pink cloth.

i mean for god sake, look at the amount of grain in that pic and then do your talking. i believe stinky explained it real well. it depends on the media and the materials used for photodevelopment. also what matters is the type of monitor you use cuz pix look very different on CRT'z vs LCD'z

i was the one that made that comment and i believe it matched it pretty well. i was looking at it on an lcd so it must have been a sharper image than a crt. oh well still a good match,
