HID Foglights, can it be done?

I just installed some Eurodesignz H3 5200K purple foglights on my Rolla. 2 days later both of them burned out. I did carefully installation making sure none of the bulbs were touched and I did a brief test and worked. Now they are burned and I'm wondering if the fog lights can be customized like this? Or can they only handle the stock lights instead? If I do get HID's, which ones should I get that won't burn out? Oh yea...I checked the fuse box too and it was fine...so I know its the lights. Help!

Wow, that's not good. Maybe they run too hot, need more ventilation room than the fog enclosures can provide.

first to begin with, you did not get HID's you got xenon bulbs, second of all, what kind of bulbs were they, they might just have been bad or something could have caused problems. as far as getting HID's there is no point in getting the real HID kit for fogs, just you low beams will be good and will provide more that sufficient lighting for you to not even need the foglights.

They were Eurodesignz H3 5200K H.I.D. Xenon - Krypton bulbs. I want these bulbs because of the color. I will soon change the headlights to black housing with purple bulbs...so I want the fogs to match as well.

yea they call them HID bulbs, but you can only use hid bulbs with their fixtures and what not. all those bulbs claim to be HID Xenon bulbs.

actually what intel said is exactly correct, those are lookalikes, and unless you wanna get ripped off again, keep the same wattage adn get some good quality bulbs, like PIAA or Sylvania

Since all you're going for is the color you could use the stock bulbs and some glass paint.

Wal-Mart also sells sleeves meant to go over bulbs but the dome lite in my beater had one on it when I bought it and it really cut down the available light.

but the thing is that the fog lights dont show up much when you look from the car, but when youre outside, then its a different story. the bulbs wont make much of a difference in driving, but if looks is what you're going for, get some decent brand and make sure the wattage is within the car wirings range.

You might of burned out your wiring harness. I dont have fogs on my car so i dont know what the stock bulbs are rated at as far as wattage. You might of gotten a bulb with much higher wattage rating and burned your harness but i dunno. Do the stock bulbs still work? If they dont work either, then you did damage to your wiring too.
