    AC and defrost

We know that putting the climate controls on our cars in defrost position activates the air conditioning, but on everyone else's cars, does the little green light on the AC button light up when you are on defrost?

Just started thinking about where the two are associated with each other so I can disconnect something and NOT run the AC on defrost, unless I want to.

When I put my car on defrost, the A/C light does not light up, but the A/C is on and I am getting cold air. Easy to tell when its +31C outside :)

In the Matrix you remove some connector and the link is disable. Let us know if you come up with a quickie solution. I want to decide if I need A/C to help out in defrosting...u know?

I saw one one thread about disconnecting one of the connectors in the back of the dash. When it was unpluged the AC would still turn on when you pushed the button, but would not turn on unless that was in. I dont remember where I saw it. I beleive someone posted it in my thread about the AC being on with the defroster. But that seems so long ago.

FC drifter, you should come by some time for a dip in my pool to cool off.

Here's the link you were talking about.... http://home.comcast.net/~vibeowner/hidden.htm

If I felt comfortable messing with my car, I would see if I can find it....but alas I am too lazy and don't want to touch it. The RX-7 gets enough of that.

Interesting article. I'm on a working vaca this coming week, if I get time I'm gonna go out and see if there's something easily reversible I can do to turn off the AC unless I want it. It really bit me today, I nearly got t-boned because I couldn't accelerate out of the way of a car a dumb-sh*t cop let run a red.

Wish I had the buck fifty it takes to get the Toytoa shop manuals. Would be real nice to have wiring diagrams.
