    opinion on dash kits

    i was wondering what everyone's experience has been with dash kits. my interior is beige and i didn't want to be too showy so i think i want a black carbon fiber kit. any input about peeling or chipping would be appreciated. also, is it going to be something really worthwhile or am i going to get sick of it and have a hard time trying to take it off.
    i was thinking about this kit or something similar;

    it says 'real gray carbon fiber', is that different from black carbon fiber, or are they basically the same shade? thanx!

    I ordered a polished aluminum kit for mine since mine has a black interior but for yours I belive that carbon fiber will look nice. It says real gray carbon fiber but that is the same thing as the black one.

    just wondering on the dash kit... when you apply like those metallic silver dash kits like the link above, doesn't it stick off the grey part of the original dash and look tacky? i guess what im gettin at, is there anyway to buy replacement dash pieces to just replace the whole thing or is that a custom job and/or paint it a silver color like that.. hmm, i'd appreciate comments, i know Zero has the metallic silver dash kit? thanks

    Comments PLZ :D

    It turned yellow because it wasn't UV protected. Theres alot of ppl on ebay who sell
    the crappy un protected dash kits which turn yellow. I guess im having 2nd thoughts
    bout buying them now.

    There's been poeple on this forum that have painted their dash, with good results. Maybe if you's took the kits off you could paint over whatever it leaves behind that looks crappy.

    I just painted the dash in my latest winter beater car. Used vinyl paint from Pep Boys (a little expensive, like 7 bucks a can). It looks pretty good, except last night I had brake fluid on my hands and it ate the paint right off where I touched the shifter knob.

    taking it off is difficult because the center console around the knobs is really thin and starts to tear when you try to peal it off

    Oh, that sux. And Goof Off or Goo Gone would probably eat the dash plastic.

    I've have some very limited success with soaking things in GoJo hand cleaner for a couple days, sometimes sticky crap falls right off. In this case you'd probably have to keep running out and putting it on somehow.
