    stereotypes in the car "scene"

    have you folks noticed the stereotypes that exist among the types of car people out there?

    let me explain:

    import people all see women as nothing but stupid hoodrats, while domestic folks don't want women to "hurt themselves" on their tools...

    domestic guys have "big egos to fit large displacement cars, and to hide their lack of genitalia," while import folks are "dumb street racers."

    furthermore, do you think the people being stereotyped earn the stereotypes they've been given? do YOU feel like you've been slapped with a car-related stereotype? why do you feel that way?

    i see a lot of this going around lately - wanted to know your take on it.

    cross posted to the import-related forums i frequent.

    ~please understand the above statements are generalizations, and are merely meant to start conversation. i don't agree with any of it.~

    I do not agree with those stereotypes. if the v8's want to raz on me cuz both of my cars are imports, then like to see them try to take on the supra when fixed...trust me, it won't be pretty...

    Not so much am I a victim of car stereotypes...but alot of people...especially over 35 see streetbikers as wanna-be hard punkasses with no respect for any laws or rules.

    Granted there are a sh!tload of them out there who white-line at 100, who think that because they are on bikes they are invincible, but not all of us are like that.

    Damn stereotypes.

    You're right. They tend to leave me alone, typically because I'm only running 3-4 mph over the limit, and I don't ride in a wifebeater, no helmet, no gloves and sandals.

    I've got my helmet, my leather gloves, my race jacket...always wear long pants as well as a full shoe...usually steel toe boots.

    1999 Corolla
    1968 Camaro Z28

    -- as for the mustang runnin low 14s comment... so? I know the supra would own it. :)

    the above stereotypes are true...

    then theres the different stereotypes inside all the types of "car people"- IE- a corolla can never be fast, a civic is always rice, mustang cobras are god etc etc it can go on forever
