    Is this a good HU?

I found this HU on Crutchfield. Its a Kenwood, $250. I dont want to get amps or a w00fer or anything so i dont need any of the hook ups for that stuff, even thou i think it has hook ups for 2 amps.

But i know virtually nothing when it comes to audio so i was just wondering if any of you experts could point out any flaws or reasons this is a bad unit. From the research iv done, it seems to be the best HU for the price, atleast out of the ones i liked.

Oh ya, heres the link... http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/...=0&c=3&g=62700&I=113MP522&o=m&a=1&cc=01&avf=Y

But any input will be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Trevor

nice head unit. i have owned a kenwood before and was happy with it. the mp3 capability is a great bonus. listened to one cd on a 8 hour drive once. but now it is in my mother in laws van and she loves it. changes the cd once every month or so just makes a new on on her computer. as for me i am looking in the same price range. however i might also add a small single sub in the future. but i was looking at the alpine cd player. just my personal preferance. get what you like most. unless you are out to make a killer system a head unit is just a head unit. But what you are looking at is a good one for your needs and should satisify what you are looking for. looks to me also play a big roll in what i buy and that head uinit also looks good.

I put a Kenwood HU in my mother's 98 Corolla about a week after she bought it, my father refused to pay the 400 bucks Toyota wanted for one. She drives when it's below zero degrees, over a hundred degrees, and everything inbetween. Hasn't let her down once, and the controls are well laid out enough so even she can figure them out. I'd buy one for sure.

PS, if you're into fancy dash displays, for 30 more the next model up has a pretty dispaly on it.

    eeeee its only 22watts x 4... thats nothing! You'll be much happier with a Mosfet 45 x 4 (pioneer)

It's 22W RMS...50W Peak. The Pioneer in the same price range is 22W RMS 45W peak.

Ignore the peak rating...the sound is so distorted at "peak" output you won't run it there even if you could.

So the RMS is the same. Seems to be about what all the manufacturers are running at that price range.

Well guys thanks very much for the input, it sounds like everyone is having good experiences with Kenwood so i think ill get this unit. It should look nice in my car too, i have a CE with the light and dark grey interior, so this should look very good. Iv been wanting an MP3 player in my car for a long time, it will be very nice to not have to change CDs all the time. But i also listen to the radio quite often, and this unit has good FM sensetivity so it should be much better than stock. I live in a small area and only get a few stations that come in clear, but this should help pull in the stations that only come in half way.

Well thanks again for your guys input. I havent seen any bad remarks about so i think ill go ahead and buy it.

Hey you should then get satellite radio. I also have a Kenwood that plays mp3s as well. You're going to like it.
