    New house, "new" car.

Was over at my neighbors house the other day looking at a car he was finishing up and up drive my parents into our driveway, with some guy in a car I've never met.
2 hours later we put in an offer on a house, it was accepted yesterday, and providing the 48 hours clause clears, we have a new house :).
Right now we live out of the city, in a suburb really that doesnt have bus access or anything, but still a killer neighborhood. Problem is that we have a HUGE yard and HUGE garden, and considering we are always at the lake, no one ever can take care of it.
So now the new house is in the city, in a really nice neighborhood, by the river. Bus route means I can forget about driving in the winter here in the city :D:D (idiot drivers here in the winter). And it's about 50% closer to university for me.
I've basically claimed the 2000 sq ft basement as my own. Have my own full bathroom, full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink, dishwasher etc), 15'x15' bedroom, TONS of room for a home theater (projecter etc), computer room.
And the best part is... NO YARD. (well theres a 30x30' on the side, and a bit in the front (maybe 10-15 feet) but nothing compared to the yard we have now (takes 2 hours with a riding mower to cut the grass).

To go along with that, I bought a CRX yesterday, and I am flying to Toronto and driving it back (24hrs of driving). Going to probably keep the corolla under my name, or at the least, my sister will buy it and let it sit in the garage, as she is moving to South Africa for a year for work.

That's my news for this week.

That kicks ass! I'm so happy for you. I know it is a great feeling to have your own space. Damn 2000sf! You're gonna have that all to yourself? Thats awesome, plenty of room to mess around in there.

    COOL!

Yea. here's some pics of the house (all 360 views).
I get the basement, one bedroom for me, the other for studying,
The tv area will be turned into a "theater" with some kick ass recliners, hook up some subs to the chairs, a projector, and decent sound.
The computer area will stay computery, the kitchen will just be great for a midnight (make that 3am) snack. As for the room between the kitchen and computer area, no idea. lol

"Bathroom 2" and "Bedroom 3 and 4" are in the basement, with "kitchen 2" and "rec room"

darn it. My other post disappeared.

Anyways, Congrats on the new digs! It looks like a pimp house! For that lovely theatre you need THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah, is the basement 2000sq ft or the entire house? If it's just the basement, then I say "Screw America's expensive houses, I'm moving to Canada!"

325K canadian dollars is cheap. For a house that size here in nyc it can easily be double that.

But then again it is canada, j/k.

    Congrats!

Yea the basement alone is 2000 sq ft (well maybe a little less becuase the top is just over 1900, but still, its a ton of room. Thanks for all the good words, I cant wait to move in there soon, and get rid of the 1.5 acres that we have here (too much to work in the yard, especially when I'm away at the lake all the time).
325 is getting near the top end of some of the houses in winnipeg here, but then again, compared to some other cities in the canada (vancouver) that's insanely cheap. for a place like that in vancouver you would easily pay double, or like [laz] said, in nyc or a lot of other places, expect to pay double that, probably more.

As for the crx, here's a couple pics.

Ok thats more than a couple, but whatever. I'll get some pics that I have actually taken when I get it back. I just realized that my uncle may be able to ship it back for me instead (he buys all the cars for a large group of dealerships in winnipeg here, the birchwood group, so i might be able to get it throw in a multilevel and shipped for cheap instead of driving it back).

Is that 325k in Canadian dollars? (Equals out to 260k in US dollars) Which is an awesome price, either way!

yea its been through a couple owners. The most recent was a mechanic who just babied the thing. The engine is so damn clean its amazing. Anything that did replacing was done, the body was re-done last year (professionally with a minimal amount of bondo :D) and painted.
    I can't wait.

I am probably not going to add much or anything to the outside, except for maybe some new headlights and clear corners. Aside from that, it will remain pretty much stock
Then for the engine, either a b16A (meh) or a b18 :D with a diff tranny and almost no re-wiring at all.
So yea, I guess it will be a sleeper, but the body is in too good of shape for it to be a REAL sleeper :)

    Just an update:
    Sold the old house:
    http://webview360.com/territory/listingPage.jsp?oid=105139&territoryCode=602
for $12,000 more than the asking price (of $299,900) :)

So if anyone wants to help move in another month, don't be afraid to stop on by. lol :p

As for the CRX, I decided not to drive it back from Toronto becuase the same day that I posted my last message, I got a raise, another scholarship for working, and therefore felt a little bad for asking for some time off. So I just got my uncle to ship it back for me (was relatively cheap) and it should be here tomorrow. I cant wait.

As for the corolla, I'm shit scared. Had to leave it at the lake this weekend, cause I drove my sister's neon back into town (she works at the lake) becuase it's dying. lol. I know how she took care of her neon (not at all) so I'm going to be hounding her everyday to wash the corolla, wax it, keep all the maintenance up to date. I think it will only be for another 2-3 montsh though cause she's finalizing everything to move ot South Africa.

Well let's see. we're probably going to bridge the two houses for 2 weeks so we can move and be out by the 1st of august. Then after than, gotta unpack at least a little bit to get all the bottle openers out.
Then the following week I have to be in Wisconsin, then that weekend is at the lake seadooing and wakeboarding, becuase I am going to miss the next three weekends becuase of work traveling etc. So somewhere around the 13th sound good? :) lol

Dude, thats crazy. We just got my TOWNHOUSE appraised for $345,000. And you sold that house for 311k?
We've been house shopping lately, and the lowest price house of the 6-7 that we've looked at has been $525.....its amazing how different areas have such influctuations in house prices.

Yea it's just the area really. Even though there is a really high demand right now for property and houses in this area, it's still relatively cheap. A house like this insay vancouver would be at least double that. It's all about what city you are in.
